CBEFM and charting

I am new to all of this and hope you ladies could give me some tips. Do those of you who use the CBEFM also chart with FF?  I guess I am wondering if the CBEFM is accurate is it really necessary to chart - at least all of the items?  I am have been charting my temp, but not anything else.

TIA

Re: CBEFM and charting

  • The CBEFM will tell you that you are gearing up to ovulate, but only charting (or your Dr doing an ultrasound) will tell you that you in fact did ovulate.

    Good Luck!

  • In my opinion, charting (plus tracking your CM and using OPKS) work just fine.

If I had my time back I would never had bought the CBEFM.  Given that charting is the only real way (except u/s) to confirm you do ovulation and when, I just feel it's better information. Not to mention, less expensive.

  • My 2 cents:

I do not chart.  I use the CBEFM.  I believe it is accurate given my signs and symptoms.  I know that the idea of temping every day is too stressful at this time.  I amy change my mind one day, but for the time being, I am happy with my monitor.

  • I have been charting/temping with Fertility friend and using OPK's for at least 6 months I think or close to it. I was pregnant and miscarried. I was just doing the above things at that time. My friend loaned me her CBEFM since she is pregnant now. I used it 1 cycle so far and I am not sure what to make of it except that maybe I went from a "high" on the CBEFM one day and Peak the next couple of days and ovulated on the day of the high. So not too sure I like this thing. I guess I ovulate fast or something also.

Not sure if this helps. Good luck!

  • Thanks so much for the responses.  I think I will keep using the CBEFM and also chart at the same time.  I checked out FF and it looked pretty daunting.  I will take some tutorials and try to "make friends" with it.  It can't hurt to try to cover all my bases.
