The thread title sounds awful, but here's my problem: DD has longish hair. It's like a little page boy cut, even length all around and about even with the bottom of her ear. Her "bangs" are a teeny bit shorter, but growing out and can go back in a clip.
The back always gets fuzzy and knotted from her sleeping on it or from being in her car seat. When I comb the knots out, it's still sort of bed head-y, for lack of a better word. For day to day, I couldn't care less. BUT, we're getting family pictures taken in a few weeks and it would be nice to have the back lay flat. I got some of the Johnson & Johnson No Tangles spray and tried that. It didn't help with the tangles much, but it did help her hair stay flat in the back.
Then I thought "What the heck? She's perfect as she is, why am I buying hair products for her?" Thoughts?
Re: At what age would you use hair products on your baby?
I wouldn't use anything besides products made especially for babies. In ten years you may look back at the family pictures and laugh about the time when DD had crazy hair. Think of it as an enduring memory, not a fault.
As evidenced by my siggy LO was a ton of hair. It's get's really matted in the back so I've been searching for a product to help keep it less tangly. We've been using California Baby conditioner. You can leave it in or rinse it out and it seems to be working fairly well. I understand your point about product but I don't think it's a big deal. If you were blow drying it and putting hair spray in it that would be one thing, but a little something to help it lay flat is no biggy to me. It's def not "pagent mom" or anything.
Babies put their hands in their hair, so I would say stick to baby products only because they are probably more ok with going into the mouth/eye a bit more?? Not so irritating...
