Babies: 9 - 12 Months

He did NOT want to go to daycare today

I feel so horrible, y'all.

I dropped Dillon off at daycare (first day in new classroom) and he flipped out. I sat him on the floor and he fell forward, screaming. I didn't know what to do, he's never done that before.

After I put away his bottles and tried to leave, he chased after me crying. It absolutely broke my heart.

  • This is happeing to us too... though with our DCP (in home) there is less distraction. I put him down and he starts crawling over to me pulling up on my knees saying "mamamamamamamaaaaa".  Heart rips out of chest and then breaks into millions of pieces.

  • Maybe it's because we've been at home for the past 3 days? I have no clue, I got a little teary eyed myself!

YES! i think that is a major factor. I know that when we were in the hospital and then off the rest of the week (a total of 10 days straight) it took him a couple of days to not fuss as I left.

But... I also think around 10/11 months the separation anxiety can begin for the LO's...

I hear the quicker you smooch and say "ill see you later " or something like that and walk out, the better. Dragging out departure makes it harder. So I leave quick and think about it the whole drive back to work.

  • You aren't alone. Kit has been going through this with Monk too.

  • I hate those days. There are a few times I considered quitting my job. But then there are all those pesky bills...
  • Yeah, I tried to get out of there without prolonging the goodbyes but, I stood behind the door and peeked at him and he bawled.

But, I'm sure he's playing with toys and his friends having a darn good time!
