LO is just eating rice cereal right now but we got the go ahead from the pedi to start giving him veggies. Which veggies did you start off with? Also, did you make them yourself or feed them the bought jars?
I've given DS butternut squash and he seemed to take to that. He loves peaches best, but the squash was okay for him. It's really about how your LO takes to it.
We bought to start off with, because I just didn't know how thin to make it.
1st foods -
DS - Peas
DD - Squash
If I could do it again, I'd start DD with peas as well. For both of them, their first foods were/are their favorites, and I had a hard time getting DD to eat green veggies for a long time. I always wonder if I had started with peas or green beans, if she would have been more open to them.
We started with the least sweet tasting veggies. We started with green beans. We thought if we started with sweet tasting veggies she may never be willing to eat the other not so sweet veggies.
Sweet potatoes were our first veggie. He gobbled them up. We then tried green bean, he's not a fan. He'll eat the green beans only if mixed with oatmeal.
We make our own. For the sweet potato I peeled it, steamed it, and threw it in the food processor until it was totally smooth. The beans I steamed and processed.
There's a great site out there wholesomebabyfoods that has good ideas and suggestions on feeding solids.
Sweet potatoes are much cheaper to make and freeze than buy - same for butternut squash so we did those. Peaches on the other hand cost me more to make than to buy. He likes both.
