Allergic rashes - Aveeno??

DD is a mess these days, her skin is terrible. She has an awful red rash on her face and stomach. She was in the ER last week due to an anaphylaxic reaction to something, she goes to the allergist April 7th.

Her Pedi just took her off all solid food because she keeps breaking out terribly. She has been eating solids for 2 months and now she is just back to formula. I feel so bad for her. I use Aveeno lotion but I am stopping that all together too to try and isolate whatever it is causing this reaction. The pedi seems to think its food though.

Has anyone had an LO react to Aveeno products?

  • I love Aveeno products.  We used J&J at first...but that was too drying.

Have you tried Aquaphor?  DS gets really red irritated spots on the inside of his elbows/around his neck/behind his knees.  I was trying EVERYTHING to get it cleared up and nothing was working.  The pharmacist at Target suggested Aquaphor and it worked!!!  MIRACLE cream!

I have, and it really didn't seem to work for DD. Ugh, this is going to take some sleuthing!

  • Not my LO--she's allergic to Butt Paster tho.  My brother is allergic to Aveeno products though.  He gets itchy and splotchy if he uses them.
  • I'm a pediatric dermatology PA. Aveeno is okay if your LO isn't sensitive, but since your's is, you need to use somethign without fragrance mixture, like CeraVe or Cetaphil creams. Never buy lotions...they usually contain alcohol and are thinner, so won't last as long.

  • My DD has food allergies and exzema really bad.  We have to use Vanicream that you have to ask the pharmacy for it but you don't need a perscription.  It works wonders.  We also have to use special bath wash, I use California baby for exzema.
