  I've heard the Valco Tri Mode (I think that is the name) works great on sand.

  But, what you heard is right, something with nice tired will work much better on sand that cheaper plastic tires.

  We just got a used Baby Trend Jogger Phantom to use at the park and the beach - the previous owner said they used it at the beach a lot and loved it.
