ds #2 is in the less than 5th percentile in both height & weight. At 7 months he's 24 1/2 inches and 14.2 pounds. So why do people say "oh he's so big" when I know he's a small boy. Don't say that just to make small talk. Sorry had to vent.
Jake is in the 3rd percentile and I get the same reactions. But then again, I'm no better, I picture him when he's a newborn and I'm like, aww, he's so big.

my DS is between 3rd and 5th%, and people tell us that too! it's ridiculous. i'm like um, ok? my mom always calls him a fatty, as does the rest of my family. um, he has fat on him b/c he is a baby. he's not fat.
Someone told me the other day that DD looked like a two year old sitting in her carrier. She's almost 31 inches tall I think but only 18.10 pounds. I just rolled my eyes.
DS is in 10-15% for weight and 25% for height. He eats like a pig though! Someone mistook him for a 4 month old this week. I'd rather them say he's so big than think he's almost 3 months younger!
I get the opposite, DD looks so tiny! Um really? Cause she is in the 93rd percentile for her height! Granted she is on the "slim" side and it only in the 30% for her weight, but still, the girl is long! It's so annoying, What do you even say in response? I totally get the need to vent!
It's just as bad when they say it and it is true. My son is big for his age. he is 90th % for both height and weight. People always ask what I feed him....WTF when did food make babies tall as well as fat?
Re: Hate it when people say "he's so big" when....
I agree. At 10.5 months, DS was 19 lb 8 oz. He's NOT big. You can see the ribs in his back. He's small. Not tiny, but small.
I guess they need to say he's so big because he's big from when he was born...? Yes, he has gained about 11 lbs in 10.5 months. You are correct.
I think you're being overly sensitive.
It's just one of those things people say "oh he's such a big boy". It isn't a back-handed snark.
Do you want them to say "oh he's so tiny" - I mean, that would be worse right, seeing that you are sensitive to his weight/height.
