Molars = No Fun

DS has been waking up screaming the past few days and he will not let me comfort him or take a pacifier.  He will take a bottle and then he starts screaming again.  So I figured another EI and take him in to the pedi.  She says ears are fine but his gums are swollen so it's probably his molars.  I can't believe he's getting molars already and thank God it's not another EI.  Now what do I do?  How long will he be waking up in pain?

Re: Molars = No Fun

  • Motrin! It was terrible for us. It lasted a while for us too.

  • Caroline's are right under the gums also. I agree with the Motrin (unfortunately we can't give Motrin for a few weeks cause she's getting tubes tomorrow) Tylenol doesn't seem to work as well. We also use teething tablets and let her chew on a wet wash cloth.

    Thanks, should I give him that before bed or when he wakes up crying?

  • We are going through the same thing! Poor babies! The only thing that has been working for DS is Motrin. On the evenings that it seems really bad I give him motrin before bed. I hate doing it, but whatever helps his pain! During the day i give him the frozen teething rings. It is starting to get a little better. It has been about 3 weeks.
