Is this too much to ask?

All I want is one guaranteed smoke free entrance into work.  There are three doors - 2 are side doors leading to stairs and one is the main entrance and leads to the elevator.  In an attempt to be less sedentary, I've been trying to take the stairs as much as possible.  So when coming back from lunch, I went to the closest stairway door.  Smoker standing directly in front of it.  I continued to the main entrance.  Smoker standing directly in front it it.  I made a wide loop to get to that last stairway door.  Smoker sitting right next to it.  At that point I just inhaled clean air and rushed past into the building.

Is it crazy to want to be able to walk into or out of (because you never know what you're going to get leaving) one door without getting a face full of secondhand smoke?

  • I don't think it's too much to ask at all.  It's a health thing, despite the annoyance thing.

  • I really hate smoke too!  My work has a designated area that is far enough away from the doors.  But I hate at restaurants and malls when the smokers are all over the doors.  I just want to hold DD's nose and run inside!!

  • That's why I love our smoking ban.  You can't smoke within 20 ft of a building.

  • That would drive me crazy. At the building where I work, they only let people smoke in certain areas and they are very strict about it. It makes people mad who smoke, but I like it. I also do the holding the breath thing when needed.
