2nd Trimester

Starring Posts

Nestie Annie just told the girls on the Money Matters board that the are working on getting rid of that function.  I must say, I am very happy about it.  I read some posts by well-meaning people and see their posts have gotten one-starred.  It seems like such a mean and passive aggressive thing to do.

Are you happy to see that function go away?

*waits to see her post get one-starred*

Re: Starring Posts

  • Totally. Take your bad day out on someone else! Stick out tongue

  • I've never starred posts before, but I gave you a 5...lol.
  • I don't know why they ever even implemented the starring thing anyways.  Glad to see it go.

  • I think the star function is pretty useless. I won't miss it.

  • I have never even noticed the stars, lol! But now that you have brought it up I will probably pay attention to it, lol!  I don't see the point of them though....  I agree with you
  • Yeah I think it's pretty dumb.

They don't bother me b/c it is so random when some posts get starred - however, certain posters (including myself) are always one starred - so I am extra desensitized to it.

I just hate when the OSB one stars a post about death or miscarriage - that is just horrible to me.  The only time I was hurt that my post was one starred was when I posted about losing my twins - how in the world is someone so cruel and passive aggressive to one star something like that?  It happens on the m/c board all the time too.

  • Yup, I'd never noticed either so I probably wouldn't care if they got rid of it.
  • To be honest I never paid attention to the fact that this function even existed.  Now that I'm aware, I can't say I really care either way.  It doesn't seem necessary.
  • I think it's a stupid feature. They could use so many others so I'm glad they are getting rid of it.
  • I saw the stars, but had no idea what they meant.  What's the point, when you can just write what you think?

Maybe they were one starring it because they did not like what happened to you? Just trying to look at the bright side because it would be pretty horrible for someone to mean it any other way.  Although on these boards, it would not shock me.

Because there are a lot of cowards out there that like to hide behind the stars.

That's really pathetic for people to do something like that.  I'm gonna go with Ryleigh's thinking and hope that is the case because otherwise that is just sick!  But sadly, I would not be surprised either

  • yeah Im glad they are getting rid of it. I dont see the point of them anyway!! and I just dont get them.

  • It's passive aggressiveness at it's finest. It used to be, that if you were logged off, you could see who rated the post what just by mousing over it. That was great.
