Last night, I fell asleep on the couch, and when DH woke me to go to bed, I had really bad cramps! I ran to bathroom to see if AF was here, and nothing (thank God). Then they continued for a while. I woke up w/ them again. These are bad cramps, like I'm hunched over needed a heatig pad and meds bad.
I spoke to the nurse this AM when I went in for beta, and she said it was normal. My ovaries went through a lot w/ the procedure, and the baby(ies) are implanting, etc. Perfectly normal... take Tylenol every 6-8 hrs for the pain.
But now they are back, bad. I'm so scared! I'm anxiously waiting the beta now to make sure everything is okay, but I'm a nervous wreck.
You ladies went throug this (the cramps) right?! Please?
Re: Really bad cramps... concerned
I remember having cramps the week before I was late and then prob for 2 weeks after - mine weren't horrible (but then again I normally don't have killer cramps); but they were also strong enough to make me think AF was going to show up. I also had days throughout the pg when I had cramps.
If the nurse isn't concerned then it's probably normal (sounds like implantation cramps). Is there any way you can lay down for a bit (I'm assuming you are at work, but maybe during lunch you can lay in your back seat (on your left side) for a bit?). Oh, and did they tell you to drink some water too - it doesn't help the cramping if you are dehydrated at all.......
When I was pregnant with Sophie I was sure I was getting my period. I had the usual cramping....and bloating...but no bleeding. Then I found out I was pregnany and it was still pretty uncomfortable. Not consistent. Every once in a while I would get sharp pains on one side or another that would freak me out. Again, nothing that happened every day or all day. It came and went. Turns out...my body was growing to adjust to a growing baby. It really should come and go. Its been a lot less this time. Almost like my body said, "Oh yeah...been there. Grown that."
I would go with the nurse's advice unless it lasts for a long time or all day long. Plus, I did not go through IVF so who knows what else extra your body is dealing with.
Try not to worry. Take deep breaths. Praying for great beta results! When do they come in?
Same thing happened to me with this pregnancy. I didn't know that I was pregnant at the time and I thought that AF was coming. Had major cramping and had to use tylenol and a heating pad to alleviate some of the discomfort. At times I'd be curled up on the couch too. When I found out that I was pregnant, my dr. said the pains were common.
Try to relax and stay positive (easier said than done, I know). Hopefully your beta results will be in soon! Sending you good thoughts.

I had mentsrual like cramps with my twins!! I also had some spotting...
Hang in there...keep thinking positive and congratulations
I had pretty significant cramps up until 7ish weeks. What helped tremendously was sitting with my feet up or lying down and drinking water. They always went away with rest.
I know it's impossible not to worry, but try to remember that it's very normal. I'm sure cramps are even more normal with IVF. Your body has been through a lot and things are happening in there.
I am actually been super good about keeping hydrated. My water bottle is always being refilld, and causing me to go potty tons!
And yes Doris, I'm at work so resting is quite difficult. Earlier today, I even considered going home early to just nap and rest! If they continue, I may
Thanks for the encouragement ladies, makes me feel better.
Oh, and beta call comes in the afternoon... usually by 4pm.

I had REALLY bad cramps and headaches and soo tired all through that first 4 weeks(including the 2 week wait)..It was terrible. I acutally thought that I was getting the flu or something; it was right before XMASS and I couldn't get up off the couch.
You can take tylenol (no more then 500mg) every 4 to six hours as well as 1 Excedrine tension headache which will also help with the cramps..it has caffiene in it sometimes that helps..
HOpe you feel better soon..

I've always had bad cramping with all three of my pregnancies, to the point where, like you, I would have bet good money that I was getting AF!!
Thinking and praying for you!

I also remember getting horrible cramps! I remember laying in bed in the fetal position and would be on the phone with my friend who was pregnant at the same time as me -- we would moan to each other on the phone about how awful it felt!
hang in there, try not to worry too much, and just try to get some rest. If you feel that you need to take a sick day and leave work early, go for it! your body will thank you.
