or the 4th time we met when I went up to him at Miami-Dade and started talkign to him and tried to get him to ask me out (lol)
but he remembers the 5th time! When I was hanging out iwth the friend who visited me at FSU and P came into our friend's office :-D That time, when i saw him walk in, I remember thinking "I'm going to get him one way or another." LOL a year later, we were dating!
eta: a funny bit about the 3rd time we met- he was actually trying to find an apt with my then boyfriend! Peter has pictures of him and my ex in his old photo albums. It's pretty funny.
6 years ago next month...online. We were both members of a dating site and I sent him a "smile". We chatted online for 2 months before meeting in person and the rest is history.

We met after a lovely night at a club in the parking lot and then we went to Dennys.. He just wanted to be my friend tho.. Until his friend became interested...
We went to the same HS, but never officially met... didn't even know each other's names. We officially met (Hi, nice to meet you) at a frat mixer (his frat and my sorority only) in Nov 1999. I had a BF, and he started to date a sister, but lasted all of 3 wks.
In the summer of 2000, we were both single and always frequented the same bars / clubs. We always ran into each other and said HI (still not remembering each other's names). Sometimes, he'd make an effort to come from the other side of the bar/club just to say HI to me (he denys it, but he's 6'5" so he sorta stands out).
In June of the same summer, after saying Hi for the millionth time, as I departed the dance floor at Bongos (to find myself a drink b/c I was only 19), he stopped me and asked "so, leaving so soon?" Me: "no, just no one to dance with." DH: "Well?" ::gestures to himself Me "Okay, let's dance then."
And we've been together ever since! He called me the very next day, from his grandma's house! LOL
So, can someone please clarify the age long question... who asked who to dance?!

We met on aol over 10 years ago. I remember the day like it was yesterday. I was getting ready to go pick up my little brother from daycare and Gary IM'd me. I didn't respond back but when I got back home I checked to see if he was still online and he was so I IM'd him back. We talked online, then moved to the phone and we met up as soon as we both got back to FSU from Christmas break. I pushed him aside for a month but still talked to him and then figured what the hey it can't hurt to see where things go (I had broken up with someone about a month before we started talking so I didn't feel ready to date). The rest is history.

He asked you! We have a similar debate of who kissed who first.
We met at the beach. A friend of mine starting dating a friend of his. My friend and I used to go to the beach every weekend when we were 19-21. This time she took her BF and her BF brought some friends (including DH). This meeting was very brief b/c I had to go to work. But, the next weekend we met again at my friend's bday party. We talked A LOT at the party, danced, and we all went back to the beach at night. We sat under the stars and he started to kiss my neck so I turned around and kissed him. But, he says he kissed me first. The next day he called me and we went out to lunch with our friends. Basically, he just kept taking me out everyday after that so we've been inseparable ever since!
I went in to fix my car at pepboys back in 99' and he was the manager. I didn't even notice him since I just wanted to get in and out quickly. Apparently when he saw me, he ran to the shop and had the mechanics all watching me in the waiting room because he flat out told them, "You see that girl there? She is going to be my wife someday." They all laughed at him and told him he is crazy. Keep in mind I was in sweat pants, mens white under shirt, nike sandals, no makeup and pony tail. lmao He remembers every detail.
Well 2 months later I had to go in to replace all 4 tires on my car. A friend went with me to drop the car off, so we could do some shopping. I told him the master lock thing for the lug nuts was in the center console. He ended up calling because he said it was not there. We went back and forth and he said, "Let's just say that if you find it in there, I will buy you your tires." What a fool, he didn't notice it had a hidden compartment and the guys busted out laughing at him. Regardless I don't take advantage of ppl and fought to pay the bill. He ended up doing all the work himself so he didn't have to charge me a dime. I felt so bad that I bought him lunch and the guys. One thing and another, he knew someone my friend and I worked with. That same night a big group went out dancing and he came along. Months later, it became official. Let's just say that the mechanics who we still see from time to time can't believe we are married and still together. I never believed in love at first sight but DH knew what he wanted, that's for sure.

We went to high school together but he was younger than me so we never dated. During winter break from college, we were both home and saw each other at the mall. He told his best friend that he saw me and I looked good, and I said the same thing to my best friend. Our best friends happened to be sisters and they decided to get us talking. 6 months of AOL IM and long distance phone calls and we started dating that summer (June 2000) while we were both home from college.
I was home from college for the summer. I was soo excited to visit my friend Louie who had just moved out of his parents house in May . Louie and I had been friends for at least 8 years by then and he was my date for the prom. When my cousin and I got there, Louie wasn't home but his roommate Jimmy was. My cousin introduced us and we waited a little bit for Louis to get home from work. Jimmy tried to be nice and converse with me but I completely blew him off. I thought I was the sh*t back then :0)
A couple days later we went back for a party and Jimmy acted like we never met which pissed me off to no end. Our group hung out practically every night at Jim and Louie's apartment (the rest of us all lived with our parents). Then in July a huge group planned a trip to SoBE - and that's when and where we hooked up officially. We've been together ever since, ten years!
Jackie - we have a similar debate - who kissed who first?? It happened on the plane ride to MIA :0) I'm sure I was the one that went the 10% and he came the whole 90 LOL!
I love reading all these stories! Happy Anniversary Melly!
I met DH online 7 years ago. He sent me a message because I listed baseball as one of my interests. (He is a HUGE baseball fan.) We emailed and talked on the phone for about a month before meeting in person. When we finally did meet in person, I was running late and pulled into the restaurant parking lot like a bat out of hell, almost running him over in the process. Thank God I didn't hit him! We still laugh about that today.
We met at a Panther's game. Young Jewish Leadership was hosting an event and I decided to go (alone). I caleld my sister and said there was no one interesting there...and she said "You paid the $10 to park, you better stay." So I walked around till I found a guy I had met one other time. He is very outgoing and started introducing me around. I met Josh and his friend Lane and kept on moving. Then I was talking to another guy and soemone passed with a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and I asked this guy where he got them...he handed me one and walked away. Josh then came up to me and asked where I got it from. lol. So we talked a bit and I noticed he knew this guy who was seriously 7 feet tall...(they usually don't make jews so tall) and I was in love LOL. I told my friends that I met the man I was going to marry that night. Too bad I was looking over Josh's shoulder.
The next night I had told him I would be at another event at Shooters and Josh showed but the 7 foot guy did not. Josh was nice but I was not interested. He e-mailed me about going out the next day and I was like ok. We had fun but I was still like eh.
As the weeks and months went by Josh was persistent and I kept denying him. Finally I broke down. I realized that even after a date I would run home to call him...because I wanted to talk about everything with him(mean I know)
So on Valentine's Day after much wooing we finally settled things lol.
Back in 2004 (it seems like such a long time ago) his sister and I were working in the same company. So one Friday she call's me up and ask if I want to go to the movies to see White Chicks. I didn't have plans so I went. Little did I know that she was taking her brother whom she thought I made a good match with. She was right. He asked for my number that same night and called me two days later. We have been inseperable ever since.

We met in the college dining hall our 3rd week into freshman year of college. I was alone and a friend invited me to join a table with a few guys from her dorm, including DH. They were all pretty much finished and sat around telling jokes and stories while I tried to eat without choking from laughing. I ended up spending most of my time with that group of friends from then on.
DH and I were interested in each other pretty much from the start, but it took us a couple of months to actually work up to saying anything. Then one night I was feeling sick and DH came over to sit with me and we finally talked about how we felt and we've been together ever since.
I love reading all these stories! I am amazed at how many of you met your husbands online. That's awesome.
I met Anthony when I was a junior in high school, he was in his first or second year of college. Back then I was always hanging out with older kids because my best friend's boyfriend had just graduated from Palmetto and we would always hang out with his crowd. We met at a party at my best friend's boyfriend's house and he immediately asked my best friend about me, whether I was single, etc.. Unfortunately, I was still with my evil ex-boyfriend at the time, so it pretty much ended there. But we were still friendly.
Fast forward to two years later, I was a freshman in college and had just broken up with the a$$ ex-boyfriend. He found out at his 21st birthday party, which was at Dave and Buster's (I went because a bunch of mutual friends were going). We flirted all night and he asked me to go to his car club meeting with him the next day (at Fuddruckers) and then out to dinner. Well, our first kiss was in the Fuddrucker's parking lot. So romantic, I know.
We dated for four years and third wedding anniversary is in June
we're high school sweethearts going on 11 years come may!
i was a junior, he was s senior, he tried so many times to talk to me or to hang out and i kept pushing him aside. then one day he called my house (he got my number from a g/f of mine)...we talked all night. weeks later he asked me to go to prom with him and here we are today!
We met at dade. We were in the same humanities class and ended up in the same group (the whole semester we had to be in that group). Everyone in our group kept asking us if we knew each other from before (which we didn't) and telling us that we acted like an "old married couple". And 7.5yrs later here we are:)
i went to drop of something to my sister at her bestfriends house and my dh was there because his bestfriend is married to my sisters best friend. So dh was outside and he asked me if that was my car (it had rims and all the works he use to fix up cars) so i told him no just joking then he came up to me and started talking about all the new things he can do to the car and then he left. He called my sisters then boyfriend and asked who i was and to give me his number yea he never did. So the weekend after we went to fridays to celebrate my sisters b-day and he went with his bestfriend and didnt tell me nothing till i said u left me hanging the other day and thats when he looked at my sister then boyfriend and was like i told him to give you my number i said that never happened then he gave it to me and we started dating months after and then its all history 6 years and still going.

I was going to FIU and at the beginning of the semester I made friends with Gaby, the girl who sat behind me. We had a couple classes together and we became really good friends. We partnered up on several projects and the first time I went over to her house to work together her then boyfriend (now husband!) was there with his best friend (my DH). We chatted a bit and I thought he was funny and smart and handsome, but I was dating someone at the time. I even remember thinking to myself, "I don't want to get to know him cuz I'm afraid I'll like him!"
A few months later my bf and I broke up. Gaby and I had become really close and she invited me to hang out with her and her friends and DH was there. I had a great time with them as a group, but DH and I barely spoke. More weeks went by and by chance Gaby mentions that her bf had said that DH had asked about me. I was surprised! I told her I thought he was cute and from then on she was hell bent on hooking us up. She had another gtg at her apt and invited DH and we saw each other again... we ran into each other in the kitchen and this time we talked and talked! It was great!! Gaby had warned me that he was a shy guy, but that night after our long talks, he snuck in a little kiss at the elevator right before he went home! Shy my ASS!!! The next day Gaby invited us over for lunch and we saw each other again and afterwards we talked and talked some more... and then made out like teenagers, haha!
Here's where I complicated things -- even though we really hit it off that weekend, I was in the last semester of college and I was really swamped. Also I'd just gotten out of a 2 year relationship and I was emotionally exhausted. So after that wonderful weekend, I called him up and told him I had a really great time that he was really nice, but that I just wanted to be friends. (Yeah... he still hangs that over my head! LOL) I told him that I really needed to focus on school and that I just wasn't ready for a relationship -- the whole 'it's not you, it's me" speech. I told him this within the first few minutes of our conversation and he was totally ok with it and understood. I totally would have expected him to totally blow me off and hang up, but instead we ended up talking for another hour! He was soooo sweet and really made me laugh! When we finally hung up, I literally said out loud, "What the hell did I just do?" But I knew I made the right decision. I focus on school, finished my final projects at the head of my class and graduated with honors. After graduation, DH started calling and leaving me messages just to say hi... I kinda blew him off a few times and didn't call him back (yeah, he hangs this over my head too!) and eventually I was endeared by his persistance and called him back. He was so sweet and never said anything about the previous calls I never returned (although he does bring it up NOW, haha!), and we talked for hours... we finally got together after that. We were married 3 years later and we'll be celebrating our third wedding anniversary next month. And now we have a little 2 month old little girl. Sigh...life is good.
Love walking down memory lane! Thanks for this post Mel!
We met in High School! I was in the colorguard and he was in the drum line (and nope it wasn't at band camp, lol!) It was at one of our band trips we got to know each other more and he asked me to go to homecoming with him. 10 1/2 years later here we are!
He was the sexy voice on the other end of the phone He worked the IT help desk at the company we worked at. I would call just to hear his voice..."I.T. Help desk.....this is Rob"....sigh, he had me at hello.....

Working at the tennis tournament, which at the time we met was called The Lipton. We were friends for about 5 years before we started dating. Its nice that we still work there together. There are actually quite a few couples that met and got married there.
We met at a Christian campus ministry at FSU. We were friends for about 8 months before we started dating, and then we dated for 2 years before we got engaged. Another 9 months later we were married and now, we've been married for a little over a year with a baby on the way.
At the time Adrian had done some photos for a friend of mine - they were really cool - her with her car, some at the UCF Arboretum, and some on a black background with funky lighting. I saw her portraits and thought they were awesome and wondered if he would photograph me too. I was really into vampire stuff and Film Noir style back then (OK, not much has changed, lol) and wanted some crazy photos and then some cool ones of me with my guitar.
Anyway we chatted online and set a date and then I went to his house and we did a portrait session. we SERIOUSLY hit it off!!!!! Nothing happened that night... but we talked ALL night the next night and met up the next day and were inseparable from then on.
Here are some photos Adrian create of me, from the VERY FIRST NIGHT we met.
Yeah... I was a smoker back then... so sue me I was only 19 and stupid!

Me "Okay, let's dance then."

I realized that even after a date I would run home to call him...because I wanted to talk about everything with him(mean I know)
So on Valentine's Day after much wooing
we finally settled things lol.
LOL awesome
We dated for four years and third wedding anniversary is in June
we're high school sweethearts
going on 11 years come may!
i was a junior, he was s senior, he tried so many times to talk to me or to hang out and i kept pushing him aside. then one day he called my house (he got my number from a g/f of mine)...we talked all night. weeks later he asked me to go to prom with him and here we are today!
i went to drop of something to my sister at her bestfriends house and my dh was there because his bestfriend is married to my sisters best friend.
Love love love reading these stories! So sweet!
We met online on LiveJournal!
Yeah... I was a smoker back then... so sue me
I was only 19 and stupid!
I was so cool back then
