Weekly Story Times at B&N

Has anyone done these at Barnes and Nobles? I'm trying to find things for me to do with Mikey on the weekends and I noticed that they offered these on Saturday mornings so I thought it might be interesting to check out.

Re: Weekly Story Times at B&N

  • I've done them.. They are cute, alot of the kids don't sit and listen but they aren't expected too.. Alot play with the trains, books, etc..

  • Loading the player...
  • I haven't been to the ones at B&N, but I've taken kids on a field trip to Books and Books for similar events.  The kids loved it!  They also have writing workshops for kids.  You can also check your local library for similar activities.  That way, you can check out the books afterwards instead of purchasing them.

  • We've gone to a few. It's mass chaos, but it's something to do!!
  • We went to one in Boynton in December and within a few minutes of trying to start the story time it was over.  The B&N employee realized that she was reading to 4 parents while the kids were all playing over at the other end of the room on the train table.

It was a rainy day and we stayed an hour while Liam played with the trains and books and had a great time, but honestly we could have done that anytime.   I'd probably go back once he's a bit older and I know he might actually sit still for story time, or anytime that it's hot or rainy outside and we're looking for something to do.

  • Sam, you should look into soccer tots! We did this with Alex for 3 sessions. It's indoor soccer, and the kids have a blast!!! www.soccertots.com
