Daycare - FAIL

re the baby wandering Parmer...

I feel for those parents, I would go bsc-mama-bear on someone if it were DD.

I saw the news trucks when I picked up DD.  I asked them about it and they said they had an 'incident' and there would be a letter.  I asked if everyone was ok, they said yes.  I was beyond horrified when I saw the news.

I am thankful that little boy is ok and that we are moving to Bluebonnet school in two weeks.

I wonder if they really did fire those teachers...and if they've been cited for that fence before, the director should go too.

  • I saw that! That is crazy! I would have gone ballistic. It was unclear in the story I read - did the child slip out through an unlocked gate or some kind of hole/gap in a fence?  I don't blame you at all for finding a new daycare - scary!!
  • UUUGH, so ridiculous that they didn't provide more info about what had happened - it was ALL over the news and I think it's always best to come from the source than the news.  FAIL on their part - in a lot of ways.  The whole thing should never have happened, and the way they dealt with it seems even more ridiculous.  I'm sure they're going to lose a lot of business.

I've heard great things about Bluebonnet school, btw!

  • that just makes me feel so sick to my stomach.
    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • Wow. Unacceptable. Those people are LUCKY that the child was not seriously hurt...or worse...being on that busy street.
  • So 2 adults with 9 toddlers didn't notice one had slipped through a hole in the fence? They also didn't notice he was missing when they returned from recess? WOW. I wanted to give the center the benefit of the doubt but it's kinda hard to do that.
  • Wow, this is right by our house. Parmer is such a busy street. It's sickening to think about what could have happened to that little boy. We actually considered this daycare before FIL agreed to watch H. It wasn't our top choice, but it was on our short list.
  • Um, yeah. I would DEFINITELY find a different day care. That gives me chills.

Ditto, except for the FIL part. but we looked at this daycare too. how scary for those parents!

  • I'm not going to comment on the situation but just want to say that Bluebonnet is a wonderful school. I've worked there, the family I work for has their children there and my niece went there. I have zero complaints! :)
  • The thought of that poor little boy  possibly getting hurt makes me sick.  Hopefully this will spur the state to come and thoroughly inspect that center.  Even though the teachers were ultimately responsible for keeping an eye on that boy, there's still problems if gates are left unlocked and/or there's holes in the fencing.

  • Oh my goodness, that baby was on Parmer?? Thank God he is ok. That's your daycare? I'd be freaked out too, wow! I'm glad you already have another place lined up.

  • We are at Bluebonnet and you will probably be in the room next to us if you have a 10 month old - so I'm sure I'll get to know your LO!
  • Those poor parents!!  Watching the mom and dad just cry because they were so scared.. wow.  I can't imagine how hard it must be to put the most precious thing in your life in the hands of another during the day... then to have this happen??  That's really, really awful.
  • I cannot imagine. If that had been my kid - oh my goodness - I would LOSE it on the director and teachers.  Tutor Time is not far from us so we pass it frequently.  I cannot imagine the lapse is safety - both in facilities and from the teachers.  I'm so glad the little boy was safe.
  • I'm really confused by the story and I feel like there's a lot of missing information.  It says the teachers said they did a head count as they went back in from recess, but if that is true then I am REALLY confused as to how it happened and when.  I dunno; I'm holding judgement until more info comes out.

If it's true that the hole in the fence had not been fixed after a previous citation, then shame on that school.  I find the whole situation scary and unfortunate.
