Adoption

The Adoption Credit has been extended!(??)!!!

I heard this from my agency director, who referenced this link, but I'd love to know if anyone else has heard anything. It appears the Adoption tax Credit got rolled into the new Health Care Reform bill:

  • If this really is included in the health care reform bill that was passed on Sunday, it's really the only good thing that has come out of it, and this is wonderful news to us considering our match failed last month, so I really don't see us getting another match and finalizing before the current credit expires in December!

Really? Forbidding insurance companies from denying children coverage b/c of a pre-existing conditions is not a good thing? Really? Just saying. As the mother of an adopted child with a pre-existing condition (which fortunately, our private insurer agreed to cover after we fought their attempt to deny coverage), I beg to differ.

Off my political soapbox. Not trying to start a fight.

  • This is such fantastic news!

    I wholeheartedly agree, CandM.

  • I won't debate this because this isn't the place, but let's just say there is good AND bad in the bill and everyone will interpet the good and bad differently.  There are better ways to go about making the good changes, without pushing through a bill over 60% of the population disagree with, and includes provisions that are possibly un-constitutional.  (The courts will work it out).

I did not say nor imply in any way that I think insurance companies should deny a child based on a pre-existing condition, in fact I don't agree they should be allowed to, and I don't appreciate getting attacked over something I didn't say.

I also don't want to start a fight, but because I disagree with the bill as a whole does not mean I don't supports children's right to healthcare.
