Similac Sensitive

Has anyone tried this?  Did you notice a difference?  LO is really gassy and somewhat fussy after feedings.  We give her gas drops with every feeding.  My mom insists DD needs soy, but my pedi said that it isn't neccesary and causes constipation.  LO only poops once a day so I don't really want to slow her down any more than that!  Mom watches LO 3 days a week and is never overbearing with advice which lets me know that she is really concerned.  She wouldn't say anything if she wasn't really worried abot LO's belly.  I'm thinking sensitive might be the next step before we go to Isomil.  What are your experiences?

Re: Similac Sensitive

  • We tried the sensitive.. and it made DD constipated.. dr told us to add 1 oz of water a day and keep her on it.. this went on for 3 weeks.. i finally switched her to Good Start.. she has done much better.. still spitting up alot - so our next step is probably soy...

  • We had some issues with her being gassy and spitting up.  We tried the isomil soy but that didn't work for us. Now we have her on Similac Sensitive RS, it is for less frequent spit up.  She still spits up but not as much and she is not near as gassy as she used to be.  We never did try just plain similac sensitive.
  • I know a lot of people who have switched to Good Start and are happy.  Maybe I will try that!  I thought Sensitive because I assumed it tastes similar to Advance but if it still causes consipation than it isn't a solution.  Thanks!

  • Yes, this worked very well for us and helped DS got from a poop a week to once every day. We tried Isomil first and that made him more fussy. He gets one formula bottle a day and it was strange that formula could affect him so much (no comments about EBFing, please, this works for us).

It's an experiment to see which works best, unfortunately.

  • We tried the Sensitive after the advance seemed to upset LO's stomach.  He was still really gassy on it but didn't seem bothered at all.  After about 5 weeks though he started having painful gas and was miserable so we switched to the Isomil.  Since then he has done absolutely amazing.  Went from pooping once every 2-3 days to pooping at least once a day if not more.   I would recommend trying the sensitive before the soy because it is lactose free, if it works LO may just have a lactose intollerance and if not then it may be from the milk base.

  • Every baby is different.  DS had trouble with Good Starts but does fine on Similac Sensitive.  Just switched to the Target equivilent to save $90/ a month.

  • We had problems with never ending spit up (even when he BF) so we tried the Similac soy. It was bad news. It stinks, made him stink, made him poop really really thick, green, & stinky so we switched to Similac Sensitive RS (different than the Sensitive) it has made a big difference. He spits up less frequently, hasnt really changed his poop a whole lot, and has relieved some of his gas. Every baby is different but GL!
