Favorite nn for Elizabeth?

Since we are on the subject of Elizabeth today, what are your favorite nicknames for the formal name (if any)? There are hundreds it seems. DD is Elizabeth. Every day, people ask what we plan to call her. We say Elizabeth, and we will see if something else develops naturally.

However, I have my favorites already. My current number one is Ellie, even though I know that isn't a traditional nn for the name. What do you like?

My great grandmother called me Lizzie even though Elizabeth is my middle name. But i know of Lilly, Beth, Ellie,and Liz. Thats mostly what i have heard.

I like Beth the best because that is my name:) I think Lizzie is cute for a child. Ellie is cute, but currently seems to be used for every "E" name out there.... Elise, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Eliza,etc. My friend always hated being Betsy (especially when she was little and got Betsy Wetsy a lot).

Elizabeth (we like Elisabeth) is on our short list. I prefer the Elisabeth spelling because I'm not a fan of Liz as a nn. I really like Ellie for a nn.

Libby, Liz or Betsy are my favs. Elizabeth is a family name for DH's family, so we've considered it. I really like it, but like everything else, it just doesn't seem to "fit."

I like Lizzie...mainly because the character Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice was nn that from time to time in the book Smile

I love Ellie. That was one of our names (short for Eleanor). The funny thing about nicknames is they definitely develop more naturally. Our daughter's name is Annabelle and I always thought we would nickname her Annie but it doesn't fit at all. We call her Bellie or Bells all the time around the house but have never once called her Annie. Same for a friend that named her daughter Avery with the intention of calling her Ava. She has never once called her Ava. Weird how it works out like that. I know what you mean about people always asking what you plan to call them, especially with a longer name. We got that a ton and our response was always "Annabelle".

all the ellie ella elle names are way too trendy for me. i would opt for no nickname but if you want some in case, i'd go with lily, libby, or bess. here's a list [some you may not have heard] of more nicknames.
