Allow myself to introduce...myself

So I'm an old nestie (in disguise)... and I'm pregnant!  I apologize for the disguise, but due to family and friends that are on FB and the Nest, I can't talk openly about my pregnancy until we're ready to announce it. I haven't even told my mother yet.  It's KILLING me!  What did most of you do with family and friends?  I'm not exactly a spring chicken and I wanted to wait until I was out of my first trimester before shouting it from the rooftops.  :P

Anyway, I'm about 7 weeks pregnant and due around the first week of November.  I have my first OB appt this week.

PS. I'm so happy for you, Cocojack!

Re: Allow myself to introduce...myself

  • Congrats and welcome!! I didn't announce it to anyone until I was in my second tri. That included my closest friends, mother, and mother in law. I hope u have a h&h 9 months:)

  • Okay, so the suspense is killing me as to who this is!  LMAO.

We have only told inlaws, BIL, SIL, that is it... well, besides my nestie besties!  My parents don't even know!  I want to wait until at least Friday that we get 3 betas under us.  A few people do know about the IVF, and are anxiously awaiting the results... I left it vague as to when we find out, but they are beginning to itch!

I think we'll begin announcing over the weekend.  But then again, it depends on the betas!

    Congrats on your pg!

  • I haven't been on the nest in ages so I wonder if I'll recognize you! Congrats :) we told parents, immediate family, super close friends, and the bump immediately. After the first dr appt and seeing the heartbeat, we told a few other friends then end of first tri for everyone else. Basically tell the people who you would want to know if god forbid anything happened. I recently had a m/c at 10 weeks and I don't regret at all telling the people I did because everyone had been so supportive.

  • LOL!  Sure, you can guess via PM.  Then I don't actually have to spill the beans.  :)  The Mr. is VERY adamant about keeping it on the down low.
  • Congratulations!! I hope I know you, I'm excited now lol
  • Congrats! Good luck keeping the news to yourself. :)
  • LMAO congrats!!  i'm wondering if I know you, too lol  I can't wait for you to spill the beans!
  • damn I don't know how to pm :( can we have a hint? :)
  • Congratulations!  I hope I know you!

We didn't tell the family (even parents) for 14 weeks.  It was hard at first and I kept telling DH, because I had to tell someone!  It was - "Hey, guess what!? I have a secret!  I'm PREGNANT!" - and other variations.  By 14 weeks it had become our little secret and it was a little bittersweet spilling the beans.  That sounds stupid, I know, but it was one thing we shared with no one else and that was kind of cool.  Anyway, congrats again and best wishes for a happy and healthy 9 months!

Are you a new nestie or an older one?  Can you tell us what year you were married?

  • Congrats!!  With my first, I told my mom at 8 weeks, my dad two days later, my siblings a week later, and DH's family just after that.  Then no one else until 13 weeks.  Then I told everyone.

With my second, I told my mom at 6 weeks, my family a week later, and DH's family soon after.  I told most friends soon after that, and I told work at around 13 weeks again.

Btw, it sounds like my mom and dad weren't together, but I just happened to be at a family wedding with my mom at the 8 wk mark the first time around (and no other immediate family members were there and I thought my mom would guess). The second time we thought my mom was about to die, and I wanted her to know before she went.

Hi and welcome!!! Congrats on your pregnancy! With both pregnancies, we found out in mid November and we told our families on Christmas day. lol We told everyone else at beginning of 2nd tri. The key is to tell people when you are ready! ;)

  • I have a gut feeling....a feeling...a good feeling...that I know who you are! Stick out tongue Then again it's just a guess. lol Can't wait to hear the announcement but until then, I would love to say "Congrats!" To a H&H 9 months
  • Welcome!  The first time we waited until 10 weeks to tell family (it was Xmas-time).  We told friends and others at 12 weeks.

This time we told family and friends when we saw the hb at 7 weeks and waited until the end of the first tri to go public.

  • Congrats and welcome!! I'm also older (38) and it took us such a long time to get pg that we wanted to wait till the 2nd tri - so the only person I told is a super close friend of mine that I also work with, who had just had a baby (I figured I'd need advice and someone to talk to, other than the ladies on this board Smile ) and waited to tell everyone else (including our families) until I was about 14 weeks. I think I might know who you are...but I'll wait to find out if I'm right when you come out of hiding...

  • congratulations! exciting!

ohhhhh...i wanna know who you are! yeah, give us a hint! when were you married?

i told my family and best friends right away. i personally didnt see the point in holding it in...i figured if something went wrong, i would need their support anyway. i didnt tell work or others until after my first trimester.

  • Congrats!

I was going to try and wait before telling people, but DH couldn't hold it in.  We basically told everyone soon after BFP and the positive blood test.  Then, of course, it spilled on FB.  So, we just went with it and now most people find out through other people.  It works out because this way I don't really have to keep announcing it.

  • Thank you for the warm welcome!  All of you that asked if you know me, the answer is yes!  :)  Some of you I've personally met, others I have not, but we've been "friends" for years!  lol!

I've been married for over 5 years.

I've decided to tell my mom on Friday.  I want to have confirmation from my doctor first (at appt thursday) that everything is on the up and up.

  • Hmmm....I think I know who you are. Smile

Congratulations! I'm very happy for you.

  • Congrats we told all our close friends and family the same day we found out.

  • Congratulations!  I don't even have a guess... I can't seem to think of any old nesties and knotties.... my brain is not working.

I had a big mouth and told everyone.  We got our bfp shortly before New Year's and were having a party at our house.  Everyone was going to be way too suspicious of me not drinking (since I fought to have the party there so I could just stumble upstairs and not drive).   Next time around I'd really like to wait until the second trimester, but I know it will be super hard.
