Anyone with SPD?

My doctor appointment is Thursday so I will ask about this then, but I've been having super bad pelvic pain and did some research on google and it sounds like SPD.  Does anyone else have that and if you do, what are somethings to relieve the pain?  It hurts so much that it is very hard to walk or move when I'm laying down.  It hurts to even lift my leg to get into my truck.

I started having the pain off an on since about 20 weeks, but now it's pretty consistent every day.  It is usually a little better in the morning when I first get up but as the day progresses it gets worse and almost unbearable.  Any suggestion for relief are greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Re: Anyone with SPD?

  • I do Crying and with both pg so far.  Mine starts about 15 weeks and will last until I deliver.  I have tried the chiro and could not tell any difference.  What works the best for me is warm baths and resting after work.

My Dr. encouraged getting a med size ball (1 dollar wal-mart) and putting it between your legs and sqeezing for about 3-5 seconds.  I do 3 reps of 10 1-2 daily to help strenthen the muscle.....it "may" have helped??

I also think sleeping with a pillow between your legs at night and try turing in bed with your legs tight together like a log roll.  GL!!

  • Yes---I have had it since the week before Christmas.....I was 18ish weeks.  It has finally started to feel better in the last 2 weeks but still around. There have been times where I have literally started crying it hurt so bad when trying to get off the floor when playing with DS.

Ironically, I have found that walking does help it.  I walk about 2 miles when I exercise and I'm not sure if it stretches/loosens things up but afterwords I do feel much better.

I've asked every doctor on rotation that I've seen since it started and there is nothing you can do about it.  I've also found that if I'm the same position for a while (sitting) then I get up, it is worse temporarily but gets better.  This has definitely made me decide that #2 is the last.  I don't see how that Duggar lady does it.  I would not intentionally subject myself to this kind of pain every day for months again!

  • Thank you both for your suggestions.  I will try the bath.  At first walking seemed to help, I would be sore when I got up from my chair but after walking a little ways it would feel much better, but lately even walking is killing me.  Today has been worse than ever, I can barely make it to the bathroom at work (which is a ways from my desk) without almost being in tears.
