co-sleepers- a ?

when did you transition Lo into their room/crib? DS sleeps with us (::covers ears to block flames) and I have read there are certain window of opportunity in child development where its easier to do sleep stuff...

anyone else hear this? thoughts? what did you do?

I was thinking of doing it at 4m but its going to be hard on me ...

Re: co-sleepers- a ?

  • We just had a conversation with Dr. about this last week. She said it was 4 months. DS stopped sleeping in our bed a few weeks ago, but still sleep in our room. She said...get him out NOW or it will only get more difficult. Ugh, so not ready for that. I like him close. Maybe I'll do it next week.

  • No flames from me...DS sleeps in our bed. I was one of those, "my child will never sleep in my bed! He will sleep in his own crib in his own room from day 1," people.  Um, yeah right. The only place he sleeps is in our bed. Fortunately it has worked out and all three of us are happy with the situation.

Anyway, we're going to start transitioning him around 3-4 months and hopefully get him in his crib before he hits 6 months.

i was also the same way. now i love having my baby close.

  • Same here.  About half the time he sleeps in his bassinet and half the time he's in bed with me.  We both sleep better when we're in the same bed but I'd like to transition him soon... as soon as DH is better and we have more of a stable routine going on.

  • I moved DD to her crib around 5 months old. This was due to the fact she would only sleep with my nipple in her mouth (no joke!) and I needed to get some sleep. Plugging a pacifier in her mouth only woke her up.

I started with naps and then transitioned her slowly into nights. Most mornings she ended up in bed with us, but she would spend most of the night in her crib.

She is 3 now, and she doesn't like sleeping with us anymore :( We offer for her to go to bed with us when we are tired and want to go to bed early, and she always opts for her bed.

  • Baby DS never slept/sleeps with us. He's been in his crib, STTN since a month!!!

DD transitioned from bedsharing right into her toddler bed at 15mo. By 18mo she was getting the hang of being in her own bed but still came down to our room and didn't STTN.  Now, finally, at 21 months, she actually does everything and bedtime is wonderful!

  • I just transitioned her to her crib.  She sleeps in there from 9:30-5:30 ish and then has a feeding in my bed and sleeps until about 8 with me.  It's a good balance so I get some snuggle time in with DH at night too :)
