Babies: 9 - 12 Months

If your lo goes to daycare/babysitter I need help!!

Starting tomorrow dd will be going to the babysitters for 8.5-9 hours a day. She has only ever been for 2 hours before.

Do you send their food with them, or is it provided?

Do they eat breakfast and lunch there, or do you feed breakfast before you go?

Thanks.

Any tips would be helpful.  This is going to be a big change for us, and I think the whole single parent thing is going to become more obvious. I'm completely overwhelmed at the thought of working 40 hours a week, taking care of dd all by myself, maintaining the house and trying to lose weight. Oh and possibly throwing school in the mix shortly. I think I'm crazy!

  • They provide all meals, but I don't know if that is the case everywhere.

  • TOTALLY depends on the DC. Ours they provide food after 12 months of age. And if they have a special diet, you provide what you'd like them fed. Before 12 mo I take baby food with formula.

Good luck and try not to stress yourself out too much!! ONE THING AT A TIME!

  • I pack DS's bottles and all solids and send them in with him.

  • um, you need to talk to your provider and fast if you don't know if they serve food. ours doesn't, we provide. we send him with breakfast and bottles. he's not on three meals yet.

don't worry, it will all go well. it's a hard change, but babies are resiliant and adapt easily. it's harder for the moms, i think! and in that area, time does help. in fact, with you being so busy, you might start really benefiting from a few hours where you don't have to worry about her. it's like a mini break.

This.  You should definitely call and check.

  • DS stays with FIL during the weekdays.  I supply food, but he's starting to eat little bits of whatever they have too.  He eats breakfast and lunch there.  Most days I don't even give him a bottle before we get there.  He usually drinks 4 bottles there.

  • Ours provides everything except formula. They should have a sheet for you to fill out with which meals you want them to feed LO. I told them they can feed her a morning solid and an afternoon solid in addition to her bottles.
  • I will be sending all of her food with her. I just didn't know if it was typical for them to feed breakfast.

    Thanks ladies!

  • Any formula and baby food needs to be supplied by us, but once she starts eating table food daycare will provide it. She eats b-fast & lunch there - which is just 2nd stage fruit or veggies mixed with oatmeal or rice cereal.
  • it's totally dependent on the dc. mine provides breakfast, lunch and snacks. dd usually gets her am bottle as i'm getting ready then i tell her dcp how much she had already when i drop her off.

i'd ask you dc if they provided food or if you have to provide it.

  • DC provides food after age 12 months.  I feed LO before I take her there, usually once but sometimes twice depending on when she woke up and what time she will arrive.

  • I provide:

    - one back up outfit

    - 2 bottles that I leave there

    - formula

    - I homemake my food, so I bring her food at the beginning of the week

    - 1 box of oatmeal cereal

    - diapers

She feeds him breakfast after he has a morning bottle and then a snack in the afternoon - we are just now adding in a third meal, but I do that at home.

2 times a year, I am responsible for bringing a refill of wipes, a tube of desitin and a big box of Kleenex.  This is something all the mothers do.  My months are April and October. :) Very easy and simple.

I am SURE all DCs do this differently but I like this process.

  • I pack my LOs food.
  • my daycare provides all food and formula.  Only thing you have to bring yourself is breastmilk for obvious reasons.

oh, and the formula - they give us the can once a week, and we prepare the bottles at home ourselves each day (I guess so we set how much).
