I'm trying to figure out the correlation between daycares and ear infections. Whenever DS gets sick I of course attribute it to the daycare, right or wrong I don't know but I don't take him anyware so where else can he get sick. Anyway, DH says he's going to get sick no matter what daycare he's in so don't move him. I've switched daycares once already for another reason but he's getting so many ear infections where he's at now I'm thinking of moving him again. So the question is does it matter what daycare he's in or is it that he's in daycare.[Poll]
Re: Another Ear Infection Question & Poll
ETA: I don't think getting sick is a reason to switch daycares. I agree with your DH in that they will get sick being around other kids/people no matter what.

Yeah, this is what our pedi and ENT mean by daycares being the number one cause of EIs. Daycares lead to colds, which lead to EIs.

I agree 100% but the daycare I was thinking of switching to has less kids (for now) in the room. This may decrease his chances of catching colds or maybe not.
I just feel so helpless. Is there really nothing I can do for him. My mom is making me feel so stupid that DS always has a cold/nasal drip/ear infection. The kids were never continuously sick on the island even in daycares and she has no idea what an ear infection is or how/why you get it. So of course I must be doing something wrong. I give him vitamins everyday, this is just driving me nuts. They're just little babies.
this isn't really fair of her to say - sorry, I don't know to what island you are referring, but I'm assuming it's in a warmer climate. colds spread faster in cooler months because people stay indoors as opposed to being outside. I'm assuming people in warmer climates have much lower cases of colds/flu simply due to the weather.
our neighbor's kid has been getting EIs after EIs recently, too (he's in daycare if that matters)...definitely not fun for the kids or the parents.
