Block Feature Question

Just a random thought/question.  Why block someone?  If you can still see the subject line of their post why wouldn't you just decide not to read it?  Seems like it would be more helpful to block certain people from reading your own posts.  Not really important to me because I don't intend to use the feature, just curious. I may be missing something...LOL.

Re: Block Feature Question

  • Doesn't it also block you from reading their responses to posts?  I guess if you can't stand the viewpoints or posts from someone, you might use it.

  • CAN YOU READ THIS? DID YOU BLOCK ME????  Wink

I think it's silly for the most part. Unless some troll is posing something super offensive I like hearing the differing views on these boards even if I don't agree.

  • I might be missing something too...Not sure how it works but I will tell you ladies, I sometimes post on the Single Parenting boards and OMG!  They got totally out of control last week and about a month before that. Some were downright, mean, nasty and not following the terms of service, whatever that is?  I think a lot were complaining maybe but I don't know how to block....I just read them and seethe inside LOL!

  • I was wondering the same thing. I guess maybe if you posted on the national boards a lot and someone got on your nerves, but you would still see other people's replies to something they said maybe in a string...who knows. I am just glad that our board is nice and friendly, although I wish there was a way to know who all was on the board. Not that I mind lurkers, I would just be curious if a lurker was someone I knew and they never said anything....like say my stepsons' bio-mom, or my MIL or SIL that we don't speak to or something along those lines
  • Yeah, there are a few people on the national boards that I wouldn't mind blocking. Just because they tend to be downright mean. Not just snarky, but nasty, IMO.
  • I wondered the same thing, and then I thought about the national boards... there are some posters that get obnoxious... ya know?
  • The only time I ever blocked someone was over on the Knot.  She was habitually a pretentious poster, always dropping names and $ amounts etc.  It got so I couldn't see a post from her without wanting to snark at her.  So I blocked her and didn't have to see it again.  There are some really mean people on the national boards who make me nuts with their stalking and trash talking.  I see the use in having the feature.  Thank goodness there is not a need for the feature on this board.  Everyone is so helpful and nice here.
