1st Trimester

Pain isolated to one side?

I know that cramping and "twinges" are normal, but does anyone else seem to have them only on one side?  I figured this might be the side on which implantation occurred, but (paired with some light bleeding) started to worry that it might be a sign of ectopic pregnancy.

Thank you!!

Re: Pain isolated to one side?

  • I had it mainly on the left side - they did an ultrasound, and the baby was where it's supposed to be...it's pretty normal...your ute is stretching every which way...

  • I have read that having pain on one side is indicative of implantation on that side, but I read that more about implantation cramping - rather than cramps in the first tri.  Have you called your doctor about the bleeding? If you have cramping plus bleeding, they might want to do an u/s.

  • I get those twinges 90% of the time on my right side.
  • I have the same thing off and on on my right side. When I went for my first u/s, they found a corpus luteum cyst on the right ovary. My OB said it was fine, and was probably the cause for my little twinges of pain. She said it's normal and should disappear by the end of the first trimester.

  • Because you are having some light spotting with the cramping, I would call the Dr. just to be safe. You are most likely fine, but worst case scenario is not something you want to mess with.

  • Yea, I have it on my left side more often. Not so much the spotting when I feel the pains though.

Our bodies go through SO much over the next nine months...! Think positive and take it one day at a time!
