6-7 week olds and weight..also eating schedule ?

Just curious....how much does/did your 6-7 week old weigh?  DD had a check-up and weighed 10 lbs even.  She was 6 lbs 11 oz at birth.  I thought she was growing good, but they want me to come back on Wednesday (a week later) to check her progress.

Also, I BF, pump, and end up having to supplement as well.  When I EBF, DD seems like she either is not getting enough the majority of the feedings or is hungry 1-2 hours later.  This is not the case all the time, but at 7 weeks, is this normal?

  • At 4 weeks he weighed 10lbs 9.5oz. I can tell he's gained a bit since... he eats anywhere between 4-6oz at each feeding, which are about 3 hours apart like clockwork during the day, with maybe 1 or 2 feeding straying from that time frame.

  • DD weighed 6lbs. 12oz at birth and as of last Wednesday she weighed 9lbs. even.  The doctor didn't say anything about her weight gain.  I pump and supplement with formula and she is eating anywhere from 23-33oz. a day (33oz day was just once and I think a growth spurt day!)  She eats usually every 2 hours during the day, then at night she has been goign on 3-4 hour stretches the past few days.  My LO is definintely a snacker though, so during the day she may only eat 2-3 oz. at one sitting (which can at times take up to an hour because she is lazy ;) ) then want more an hour later.  Not sure why your doctor wants you to go back in for a weight check, but now I'm worried that mine isn't gaining well!

I also think LO's weight gain is right on track. DS was 7 lbs 4 oz at birth. At one month he was 9 lbs 1 oz and last week at his 2 month visit he was 11 lbs 1 oz. Between 4 and 6 weeks I could feel that he was heavier and see that he was really starting to fill out. Your LO could also be going through a growth spurt, and that's was she's eating more often. DS had one at 6 weeks, and spend the majority of the day attached to my boob.
  • Yeah, I am pretty sure I have a lil' snacker on my hands!  I don't think her weight gain is abnormal.  I know my child better than any scale.

  • At his 2 month check up he weighs 13lbs (he was 9lbs when he was born) so that's about 2lbs/month. He eats every 3-4 hours and about 5-6oz each feeding. But he sleeps about 6-8 hours at night so he goes sometime without eating.

  • LO was 9-9 at one month (dropped to 7-13 at lowest weight after birth). I weighed him on my scale and it looks like he's 11-12 lbs now.

I EBF but he eats every 2 hours during the day (sometimes 1.5 hours). I have read it's normal for EBF to eat this often.

  • My DD was 6lbs 15 oz at birth.. was 6lbs 8oz @2 days.. was back up to 6lbs 15 at 2 weeks.. and as of last Friday she weighs 9lbs 8oz.. not sure if that's normal or not.. but Dr didnt say anything!
