At our 4 mo appt, it was confirmed that DD has a very mild case. I was asking so many questions, I sorta blanked out on pressing for more about the eczema.
What lotions do you use for your LO? Right now, we use Aveeno (and the wash). I know he said that lotion was okay for her. He also said if it got bad, he'd prescribe us something. I just don't want to make it worse.

We love the Aveeno lotion and wash. We tried Dove Sensitive on the recommendation of our Pedi, but it dried her skin out. We apply lotion at first diaper change in the morning and before bed. We also have limited baths to 2-3 a week. When we DO bathe her and put lotion on right afterward, we have brilliantly beautiful skin when she wakes up the next day. When her skin gets into that red stage we apply a thin layer of cortisone to the area. We've tried both cream and ointment and they seem to both work fine.
We have also tried Aquaphor, but we find it sticky and expensive. We used a tube up very quickly and it's hard to squeeze out. We have also tried the Nature's Baby wash and cream. The cream didn't have the staying power--we had to reapply much more often. The wash didn't lather for us. It just hung out on the sponge or washcloth.
My LO has had this for awhile, on his head and arms and legs. He scratces it quite a bit and wears socks on his hands to bed so he doesn't maul himself. It got so bad on the side of his face last week that I cut wheat out of my diet to see what would happen. (He's a bf baby.)
It cleared up!
His arms and legs are still kind of spotty, but for the first time since before baby acne, his facial skin doesn't feel like crocodiles and I don't have to put him in hats when we leave the house because he's so rashy.
I am just glad to see we're not the only one with this issue! I kept feeling like I have done something wrong since lo is ebf! I am not the most healthy eater, but I try! Where do you find the aveeno non-fragrance. Our target only has the lotion, not the body wash or cream. Unless maybe they were out when I looked for it. Anyone try the J&J unscented lotion?
We use dove sensitive skin body wash and aquaphor or eucerin. DD inherited the skin issues from me and these are the same things I use to keep it under control. So far it works and she doesn't need a prescription.
It took me most of my life to figure out that I'm actually allergic to the lye in most commercial soaps and that was what causes me so many rashes and dry skin. I suspect DD has the same issue. Dove is soap-free. Otherwise I have a prescription cleanser. I'm also allergic to anything containing shea butter, or cocoa butter. So I avoid all these products with DD as well.
J&J is not a good brand for those with sensitive skin. There is a lot of synthetics in it, even the unscented brand.
