What does your baby wear under sleepsack?

I always put mine in a long-sleeved onesie (one with no legs) but they were all dirty so I put a long-sleeved onesie that has legs. The sleepsack is fleece so I hope he doesn't get overheated. What does your baby usually wear under their sleepsack?

Re: What does your baby wear under sleepsack?

  • usually either a onesie or footed PJs, depends on if i am too lazy to change her into PJs before bed or not :) we have a cotton swaddle, not fleece.  i think part of it depends on the temp you keep your house at too.

  • We keep our house at around 70-73 degrees. Now I'm tempted to change him into the cotton sleeper and risk waking him up!

  • He's always in footie jammies and depending on the temp of our house either in a cotton or fleece sleepsack over them.  He's never seemed overheated at all.  I wouldn't worry.

  • We kept the babies in a sleepsack and fleece pajamas with a short-sleeved onesie and socks underneath, when it was winter and cold here.  (We keep our house at 69 at night in the winter.)  If we didn't put socks on them, their feet were like ice in the mornings, so I know they weren't overheating.  I think my girls are like me--always cold.
  • You know it depends on the baby too - Jack can't wear ANY fleece - ever.  He would BOIL.  But other babies wear it and are totally fine.  He just runs hot - we only ever use the cotton sleepsacks - and he wears cotton pj's underneath - sometimes just a long sleeve onesie with no pants (but I usually end up putting another blanket over top of him - almost always - he's older so it's fine.  So there you go!  The never ending mission to keep them warm but not too warm!)
    Wheee!

  • A cotton footed sleeper under either fleece or cotton. I wouldn't worry too much. Fleece is supposed to be fairly breathable. Feel the back of the baby's neck. That's a good way to tell if they're hot or cold.

  • We live in So CA.  I never put DD in fleece.  She wears cotton footed pjs and a cotton sleepsack.  We keep a box fan outside her room.  We keep our house on the cooler side.

    This.

  • I wouldn't worry.  We used to do a short sleeve tshirt and footed sleeper under the fleece sleepsack and kept the house at about 69 degrees.  She seemed like she was getting a little warm that way so we switched to long sleeve onesie or long sleeve nightgown under the fleece sleepsack and that is what has been working for us.  i am switching to the cotton sleepsack this week, though, since it is getting warmer here.

This exactly! I am glad I can tell my husband that someone else does this since he tells me I am cooking them!
