Pregnant after 35

Nursing Bras - Rant

Okay so I've never been petite (size 14) or small chested (36 DDD pre-pregnancy) but this has got me really hot!

Now that I'm 35 weeks along I figured it was time to visit the local (MKE) Motherhood Maternity for nursing bras.

More like humiliations galore and the one that fit.  I understand that the girls have grown and that a 40 E was a size in the realm of possibility, but the fact that it was Pea in the Pod ($) and the ONLY line that would fit me in only ONE style had me worried.  Then I was informed that there was only one bra in the store and it was black.

Fine, order me two in nude and we'll call it a day I told the sales girl.  And then told her that I had a coupon for the small fortune and was informed that it was a "special order" and could not use the coupon.  When I calm down I will call corporate and tell them about this particular oversight in the mean time I am looking for a few good bras in the MKE area......HELP!

Re: Nursing Bras - Rant

  • I know exactly what you are talking about - the girls have always been on the larger side and I don't even want to go in to what size they are now!

    Check out this website:

I ordered the regular nursing bra and I love it - of course I had to get the larger size and after wearing it all day I have to say that I am pretty impressed with it.  I will be ordering more.

For a nursing tank I got one from here:

I bought the cami sutra - and love it as well and plan on ordering a few more.

Of course all of this is online and you can't try it on right then but both sites have easy return policies - in fact I did return one bra to bravado and they didn't give me any troubles at all over it.  Good luck!

  • I also know what you mean.  I'm sure I need to be remeasured but was an F at last check.  How many G's are out there - not any in store.

I know Motherhood has several locations in Phoenix and one had slightly more in stock.  I don't like their return policy of 10 days, but they did order my bra and sent to my home with no shipping cost.  I think it'll be great for BF but it has minimal support for an F.

I, too, will check out bravado.  Thanks!

And, yes, I would call about the coupon, too.

From another Milw.Mom - Did you go to the one at Mayfair or across from Brookfield Square?  I've had good experiences at the one in Brookfield, you may want to try there.   They have a bigger selection.  Also, I checked out the bravado designs website, and they look good too.

    Good Luck with everything!

  • Checking in from parenting over 35...  I can vouch for bravado bras.  I was a 34E pre-pregnancy, and I'm now a 36G.  I have the original, the allure and the supreme, and they are comfortable, flexible and contain the girls nicely.

  • I went to the one on Bluemound because I had another visit for clothes that went just fine.  Maybe it was just that day or the item I was looking for but after working in retail myself I know what good corporate policy and customer service looks like so I have little patience for anything else and really from a specialty store with not a lot of discounts!

    Thanks for all the input!

  • Too funny, I was in there today hoping to pick up some more comfy bras that don't cost a fortune.  I was a 34DD to 34F depending on the bra pre-preg and I am up to a 36 H right now.  Needless to say Motherhood has nothing to meet my needs.  BUT, just down the road on Bluemound by Babies R Us, there is a speciality bra store called Allure and they carry larger sizes.  They may need to order in the nursing bra for you, that is what they are planning to do for me.  I have also heard great things about the Anita nursing bras.

  • Do you have a specialty bra store in your area you could go to?

  • Good news!  I e-mailed corporate and they called with the two things I really wanted.  An appology and a store credit!

Bought a nursing tank with the credit and then went to Target and got Gilligan O Malley bras underwire (for when I go back to work).  So now I'm set.  Thanks for all the advice!
