Babies: 0 - 3 Months

will this let up?

Adam cries... a lot. I am not sure what is normal for a baby..this is my first. It isn't hours of screaming on end but he cries a lot throughout the day. We have been dealing with reflux so that doesn't help. Do they eventually begin to cry less? If so...when?

  • I've heard crying peaks at 6 weeks.

Hmmmmmm.  DD peaked at 6 weeks but it DEFINITELY has not reduced much and she's much further along than that.  It might depend on if the baby is colicky or not???

  • DD cried the most in weeks 4 and 5 and this last week was lots less crying! (she will be 7 weeks tomorrow.)  So hang in there! :)
  • Kate cried for 4.5 months. Everyone told me "weeks 6-8 are the worst." Then it was "it gets soooo much better at 3 months". Well, these milestones came and went and nothing. 4.5 months it was.

It gets better. I just told myself (and still do when she's in a phase I don't love) that every stage passes.

    Hang in there mama!

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • My daughter just turned 6 weeks and the same thing started with her, but i'm sure it'll let up....i think its just their lungs reaching their developmental peak...and it should let up, atleast i hope so for us both haha.

I just read it somewhere, never said it was true.

My pedi said the same thing about crying a lot at 6 weeks

  • DD cried a lot, especially in the evenings.  She started calming down around 8 weeks, but still has a couple of breakdowns a day.  Try Happiest Baby on the Block....the 5 S's really work.
