Hi my 3.5 yr old goes 5 days a week, for a lot of services, speech,ot,pt,music, assistive tech, plus has a 1:1 aide,my ?is do u get a note home everyday or at least a few times a week saying what they did that day,we used to when he started, but last few months we don't get anything ,my ds can't tell us so wouldn't u think we should get something from the teachers,i got a quarterly report but that was a few months ago ,we sometimes get a note on fridays that tells what they did that week but nothing specific about my ds ,should i talk to the teacher about this?thanks
Re: integrated preschool ?
We just asked our shadow to write it down for us every day - not just because we wanted to know what he did that day/how he's progressing, but also as a tool for conversations with our son. Maybe you can ask your aide to give you a quick summary verbally or on paper every day. Ours doesn't mind doing that.
The school doesn't do that for us, they only send us a quaterly summary of how he's progressing as far as his IEP goals are concerned.
Our communication log has nothing to do with IEP goals. We use it as a conversation started also. I had to have this written into his IEP.
My son is not in an integrated preschool, but is in a 'preschool disabled' class and usually goes from around 9-2:30
We have a composition book that Gabe's teacher writes in every school day ~ how he was, what they did, etc.
Each week she also sends home a general guide for what the class as a whole will be doing that week (what the color, letter of the week is, etc.).
His speech teacher will also write in the book occasionally.
I also write back, as the teacher / aides like to know how he slept / if he ate and other pertinent information.
You will forever be my best friend. I can almost feel our hugs. I will ensure everyone will know (now and in the future) what a genuine, kind, loving person you were...I already miss your laughter and our daily conversations. I love you, Samantha. May 20, 1983- February 20, 2012
