Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Anyone transition to only sippy cup before 1 year?

DS is fine with the bottle, he seems to prefer the sippy cup though I think because he can hold it with the handles. Has anyone switched to giving BM/FF in the sippy only yet? I BF when I'm home so its not all the time.

  • We haven't, but I think we easily could. I have this thing with putting formula in a sippy cup, though, so probably won't fully transition until DD is off of formula.

  • DD hates her sippy even though we try at least once a week. I don't think we could transition even if we wanted to at this point :)

Crazy I know, but mine never took a bottle at all.  She wouldn't transition from the breast to the bottle but took a sippy cup at only 3 months.

We tried everything, even fed her from medicine droppers until we tried a sippy cup.  She does great now and can hold it up pretty well on her own with the handles.  I also still BF at home but when I am gone she takes the cup.

Thats so funny! I had to feed DS from a medicine dropper too!! We even tried a turkey baster because he refused the bottle!!  He finally took to it but it was  many days of refusing to eat all day and then eating all night before he gave in.

LOL!  Turkey baster!!!  That is hilarious!  Mine screamed her head off she was so hungry and never gave in, it was awful!

I was glad we tried the cup even though some of my liquid gold dribbled down her chin, she did get enough to keep her happy until I returned home.

  • I have to transition Keegan by about 9-10months.I have been trying to get him to use it, but all he wants to do is hold it upside down. Its frustrating and I know he is still young, but I have to get him completely on the sippy cup before he can have surgery. I want to try giving formula, but I am scared it will all end up on the floor.

  • DS never took to the bottle (trust me we tried...oye) But, he seems to do quite well with one of those more straw-like sippy cups with water. Of course he spends half the time bashing it against the table but hey, that's to be expected I guess haha!

  • I BF also; DD gets sippy cup every day with water. Her pedi said to stop giving bottles at 11 months, so that's what we will do. I don't imagine having much difficulty. She LOVES her sippy cup (the kind with the straw).
