Pregnant after a Loss

To Buy or Not To Buy?

I have several weddings this spring/summer and I'm contemplating how far in advance I should purchase dresses?  The 1st wedding of the season is the end of May.  When should I start looking for a dress?  I'm 8 weeks now and I'll be roughly 18 weeks at the wedding.  How much bigger did you all get in that time frame?  Did your dress size go up alot?  (I'm planning to get something forgiving in the waist, not skin tight.)  All the cute dresses are always gone in my size if I wait too long to buy them and I don't want to get stuck wearing something ugly!

  • At 18wks I could have pulled of an empire waisted dress in my regular size

  • I'm not super skinny to start with...size 16 ish pre-pregnancy. I am a little over 18 weeks now, and can wear the same shirt/dress size (if not too tightly-fitted), but am in maternity pants. I would buy your regular size or 1 size up if you find a dress you like. My bump is still barely noticeable (as I was told today).

  • Please buy your dress bigger!  My friend didn't order hers big enough for my wedding, and we had a hard time getting something to work.  They wouldn't exchange the dress, and if we wanted a new dress (either for her to wear or for excess material), we would have had to have it express ordered (at extra cost), and there was barely enough time for that.  Some dress makers may be a little more flexible, but keep in mind, you can always have it taken in.

    Just my 2 cents.

Thanks! You're right, I can take it in easily.  I think I'll go 1 size up just to be safe.  I'm not in the actual wedding though, so I can probably easily return it if it gets too small.  But by that time they may not have the new size I need, so I'll just get it a little big now!

  • Thanks for your advice, girls!
  • also, keep in mind that your boobs could be three times their size by that time. Mine are. I'm already a D and started as an A.

Ahh!!! That is a scary thought. I'll definitely do 1 size up then. I don't want those bad boys popping out.  Would your ladies fit in a dress 1 size bigger?

Depends on how fitted it was. I would definitely buy something looser, not too form fitting at all.
