Anyone else going stir crazy??

I want to get out of the house so bad but I'm scared she is still too young.  My DH has offered to watch her while I go run errands but I dont want to leave her either.  We also got a cold front here in TX so now I'm really too paranoid to take her out.  I want my nice warm weather back and to get out of this house!!

Anyone else ready to venture out but still scared?

Re: Anyone else going stir crazy??

  • We took LO out yesterday ( in Arlington where it was high 70 s before the cold front came thru) he is 5 days old but we went to the driving raange so it was secluded from other people but I got to enjoy the crab air and not be cooped up in the house! Just try to find somewhere that isn't going to be around a whole lot of people!

  • I'm in TX too!  Today is pretty chilly so of course we're staying in.  We've ventured out about 4 times so far and 3 of those have been primarily for pedi visits but we end up stopping by the grocery store or Target or something.  One of us stays in the car so really she hasn't been out.  I'm not really going stir crazy... I actually just want to stay in.  It's been great practice to pack her up though... and I've had to change diapers and clothes in the car... and nurse in the car so I feel a bit more prepared for a real outing in another week or so.

  • I'm in WI and took DS out before 2 weeks in January.  It was cold out, but I kept him bundled up and went to indoor places.  We went the mall a lot and even just a quick trip to walmart helped.  It helps to keep a blanket or something over the carseat to avoid people trying to touch LO.

  • I've taken DD out since she was 3 days old.  I would have gone crazy sitting at home for 6 weeks.  When I take her out I leave her in her carseat and I don't let people touch her.  I live in MN and it is cold here and she does just fine going out.  I just make sure to cover her with the blanket.

  • Why don't you have DH take you both for a drive- that way, you're out, and you're all together!

  • I've taken DD out since she was 2 days old!  We live in Ohio and she was born in January so it was freezing.  We just bundled her on up and she was good to go.  I'm sure your LO would be absolutely fine going out.

  • Go out. I have been running my errands with LO since he was a few days old and have had no issues. I live in Chicago and he was born in January. Make sure you keep them warm and wash your hands before touching him. I carry sanitizer with me. Depending on where and how long I am going, I will either bring a pumped bottle or will NIP. The Moby helps too.
  • Nope. I go to church on Sundays and DH watches her, and DH and I had our taxes done while MIL watched her. She survived great!

Tomorrow we're going to attempt our first stroll with DD.

  • I went to Bloomingdales with my baby the day he was released from the hospital and I take him out almost everyday. And we live in Chicago! Your baby isn't going to die if you take her outside, geeze.
