  Can you try putting him in just a diaper and then swaddle?  If I was sleeping in nothing but my underwear, I wouldn't be too hot with just one blanket, even if it was 74.

  In my house- yes, you'd be in for it! I would just put DS in a diaper and swaddle.

  Could you turn down the temp or put a fan in her room?  In the summer we have the temp set at about 72 and sleep with a sheet, so I'd think she'd be okay with just a diaper and a cotton swaddle.  Have you tried the Halo cotton swaddles?  We really like those in our house!
