Question of the Day -What is your job (outside of being on bedrest and gestating)? Is this what you thought you would end up doing?
Answer- I am a clinical psychologist. I have my doctorate in psychology and a masters in human sexuality and I work with adults and couples, and some adolescents, doing outpatient therapy. I love my work! As a child I thought I wanted to be an author and write fiction novels, but in high school I thought I wanted to be a therapist. In college I thought I wanted to be a stay at home mom... So I did end up doing one of my intended careers!
Update- I passed my NST today, and managed to avoid an internal. I said, "we know I have no cervical length left, so let me just enjoy not being in labor!" So, I am hoping to make it to at least 36 weeks now, but not too much past that because I don't want to have to be induced.
Also, one of my sweet kitties is having tummy trouble. I took him to the vet and now have to put him on special food and give him Pepcid. I hope this solves the problem and that he doesn't need more medical attention! I had thought he was looking slimmer... and mommy always knows best!
*** I hope you all can keep your spirits up this weekend. I know here the weather is perfect and springlike, and it is hard to be stuck inside while the rest of the world goes out and celebrates spring. Do something nice for yourselves!

Question of the Day -What is your job (outside of being on bedrest and gestating)? Is this what you thought you would end up doing?
Answer- I am a floral designer/ wedding consultant. I also work with stationery and am a huge paper nerd. I will pretty much aid in creating a Bride's day in whatever way she needs- but creating her bouquet is my favorite part!
I also graduated from an entrepreneurial program before bedrest. I currently do private children's art therapy classes and just for fun classes. I also run a group for adult women that meets twice a month. We have a different teacher and do a different art each time, it's always held in my studio. We do enameling, jewlery making, sewing, crocheting, paper making...etc. My dream is to open a public studio for people to drop in and get their hands dirty as well as offer classes.
My new thought is to also start a bedrest support network, using the connections I made in the entrepeneurs class. I would offer mom's discounted of free services like- house cleaning, pet sitting/walking, massages, salon services, meals, shopping, and just plain companionship!
Update: BH are picking up a bit and getting annoying. I had a blast doing my maternity pictures and then had major siatica and pelvis pain afterwards...argh. My parents are coming down today to finish getting things put together and my mom is bringing a wheel chair to take me to target!
I have another ffn on Moday and need all the vibes I can get that it's negative! Hope you're all doing well!

Question of the Day -What is your job (outside of being on bedrest and gestating)? Is this what you thought you would end up doing?
Answer- I am a business manager for a prosthetics practice. I've been there for about 5 years doing anything and everything it takes to run the business side of the operation. It's alot of different responsibilities but it is perfect for my type A personality. I can't say that this is what I thought I would do. Honestly, I've never known what I want to do. I had no clue in high school- and I am still unwilling to commit to "what I want to be when I grow up". It's a work in progress.
I also started a floral design business part time out of my house. (We have something in common, Angie!) I originally took the classes for fun- and then started doing weddings for friends. I haven't advertised yet- it's just been word of mouth so far- but it's been alot of fun for me. And it might be something that I'd like to expand in the future.
Updates: No updates here. I hope everyone is feeling good. Have a great weekend, everybody!!

Question of the Day -What is your job (outside of being on bedrest and gestating)? Is this what you thought you would end up doing?
I am a nurse in the operating room. I love my job and what I do. I get to work mon-Fri with no holidays or weekends. It's tough to find a nursing job with those hours. I originally wanted to be a doctor and did 2 years pre-med and realized it wasn't the lifestyle I wanted. So glad I made that decision.
No update here really just hoping to stay contraction free for a while.

Question of the Day -What is your job (outside of being on bedrest and gestating)? Is this what you thought you would end up doing?
Answer- I'm a RN at a MO Dept. of Mental Health Facility. I deal with lower functioning clients, clients have that both mental and some physical disabilities, and clients that have psychological issues. I LOVE MY JOB... and I hate that I have to be away from it. At the beginning of my pregnancy it was so easy that I figured something would go wrong...it was too easy, no horrible symptoms, no m/s, no nothing. When 20 weeks came and went without issue, I started to worry a bit. I knew that something was coming and something would "go wrong" but I didn't know what. Then the signs of pre-e starting appearing slowly, which worried me, but I didn't want to believe that --I, Megan RN, would get pre-e....I've read it in the textbooks, and studied it....I've seen people with it, and I've known a person who died because of it during childbirth, BUT ME...nope can't happen to me-- Nurses makes the worst patients because we are suppose to caregive not be given care to. And now here I am...praying it doesn't get worse, and hoping the weeks fly by so I can get to my goal of 37 weeks... my doctor hopes I get to 35 at least... But I know Gabriel is doing good. He's kicking more than ever and ALWAYS has the hiccups--silly boy--. And as long as I'm laying down and not sitting or standing for more than 20 minutes, my BP stays relatively good... so here's to hope.

qotd: i am a partner in my family's business, we do medical marketing. in a million years i never thought i would be doing this. i have a masters in political science and worked in incredibly high stress 24/7 type jobs for years before i realized that work was my whole life. i talked to my dad about how this was not how i wanted my life to be and he offered me a job working for him. 2 weeks after i started working for him i met mh, so i don't doubt for a second that it was the right choice for me.
i love the felixibility of being the boss and the challenges of running a marketing business. i knew even before getting pregnant that i would not be fulfilled being a sahm, i thrive on intellectual challenge and structure so i am so grateful that when the time comes i can continue work and be a mom to my twins. i will most likely work from home 1 day a week and in the office 2 days a week, but i know the other 2 days a week i wll check email and pop into the office if necessary..
update on me: my cervix is holding steady so that is good. i was put on insulin yesterday my endocronologist said he isn't convinced that i have gd but that the elevated fasting glucose caused by my pre-existing insulin resistance would be best managed with nightly insulin, and it's what's best for the babies. i am getting my first round of steroid shots next week on thursday and will stay over the hospital for one night.
Why ? short cervixQuestion of the Day -What is your job (outside of being on bedrest and gestating)? Is this what you thought you would end up doing?Answer-I am a Registered Marketing Associate and Financial Planning Associate for an investment firm. I know, the titles don't really explain! I am a licensed stock broker/investment advisor, and work as a junior broker with a senior partner. It's very fast paced, and high energy, and I love it!! The hours are the best part about it - I work 6:30 to 3:00 (west coastie), so I'm able to pick up my daughter from school every day. Straight out of college, I was an interpreter for the deaf - I never thought I'd work in the financial field! I was getting burnt out interpreting after a couple of years, and decided to take an office job just for a small break with every intention of going back to interpreting. 8 years later, I've worked my way up, and never left the field! Crazy where life takes us sometimes!Update: Nothing new - just my AWESOME appointment yesterday with my newly improved 2.5 cm cervix! YES!!! Also, I graduated to appointments every two weeks instead of weekly! I'll miss getting out of the house every week, but I love that I'm improving, so I'll take it!!Good luck on Monday Angie! Lots of negative vibes are heading your way!!

Question of the Day -What is your job (outside of being on bedrest and gestating)? Is this what you thought you would end up doing?
Answer: I'm a recruiter for the Agriculture Industry, so I work with companies who are looking fo fill openings, primarly sales, management and marketing jobs in the Agriculture Industry. So, we are the people who help feed the world! So, because what I do is on the phone and internet, I've continued to work while in the hospital, at least as much as I can. I'm no where near as efficient as if I was at my office, but I'm still getting work done.
As for is this what I though I'd end up doing? No, not really. I have and Agronomy (Plant and Soil Science) and Agriculture Business Degree and had all intentions of being an Ag Chemical Rep for the majority of my life (which is like a pharma rep for the Ag indusry) I did that for about 4 years and when hubby and I got married and moved back to Kentucky I became a salesman and agronomist for a soil analysis laboratory. After 4 years of that, I got bored, not enough challenge and came into this opportunity and have been here for about 3 years and love it. It gives me great flexabiliy, I work with a great group of people and still get to work with those in Agriculture.
So, that's my odd background! I'm a farm girl.
Update: Nothing much new for me. Everything remains very stable for both me and Mallory, we just sit in the hospital and pass time. Mom and Dad have been up the past 2 days and since it's been so sunny and warm here in KY the past couple days, they've rolled me outside to get some sunshine...was the first time in almost 5 weeks since I had been outside. I will be so glad when April 12 arrives!!
Laura- that's cool! Do you have a cooler and everything? I absolutely love working with flowers- I was an art education and fem theory major and then fell in love with flowers! lol
Thank you all for the negative vibes- I am really counting on this one being negative!

Question of the Day -What is your job (outside of being on bedrest and gestating)? Is this what you thought you would end up doing?
I work for a large bank as a fraud analyst I investigate customers accounts that looks like they are trying to defraud the bank, make sure they cannot take money if it was fraudently put in the account, if there is good money in the account, I make sure the bank gets what is owed to them before I close the account and send customer a check. I just learned that when I go back to work they have also added a new duty of those customers that committed fraud and left the account negative we now have to take the time to call them and try to get them to repay us.
No this is not what I thought I would be doing, I thought I would be a doctor. I was a chemistry major last semester I switched to Information Technology

I work.....well did, for my family! haha I have a degree in speech language pathology but was needed at my families business right after graduation. God works in marvelous ways, who knew I'd be faced with bedrest and need to quit working. I cant be a SLP from home but I can work for our company from home. I don't mind working there, afterall my parents sacrificed and put me through college w/o making me go into debt, its the least I can do is help them out until they find someone they trust for the position. I'll be a practicing SLP one day when Mason gets older....my job now is to be a mommy and keep him bakin' as long as possible!!!!

Question of the Day -What is your job (outside of being on bedrest and gestating)? Is this what you thought you would end up doing?
I am a Policy and Budget Analyst III for the state of Kentucky. I technically work for the Governor's office but it's not a political appointment but we serve as the Governor's staff and prepare and execute the biennial budget. My degree is in economics and I'm halfway through with my MPA. I never knew that this type of job was out there when I was younger and orignially wanted to be a doctor but chemistry and I didn't get along in college - or maybe it was the frat parties that interfered? either way, I love working with policy, all the analysis and interpretation involved, working with a variety of people, and seeing all the behind the scenes work/action that you never read about in the papers. Thankfully because the job is so demanding during budget our office is super flexible and have been great sports and accomodating during my first pregnancy and now my second one both with 20+ weeks of bedrest.
Update: I went to dinner tonight with my girlfriends and it was great to get out of the house and visit! Unfortunately, I'm dealing with the consequences of increased contractions, soreness and swelling right now but I've guzzled some water, took my nifedipine and am laying down. They also offered to throw a shower for baby#2 and I'm so excited!!!
