He's 3 Weeks Today && All He's Doing Is Crying!

&& I can't get him to stop. He's been crying and screaming all day! He's taken two 30 min naps and that's it. I'm so at my wits end! He's never done this before. Plus he keeps spitting up... there goes another shirt as I type.

  • Aww I know exactly how you feel, and I hope it gets better for you! Maddie has been just screaming all day. The only way to make her stop is bouncing her in your arms or whatever and walking while youre doing it Indifferent She's finally asleep. Hopefully yours will be too soon!

  • Mine is doing the same thing. I think he is colicky (sp?). I read that it shows up right about now. I just went for a walk with him in the stroller and he went to sleep. I also tried Mylicon drops and that seemed to help with the spitting up. Hopefully this doesn't last long. Good luck, I am right there with you.

Oh no I hope he doesn't have Colic! I just got him back on Mylicon drops since it helped the first week we had him home. He had a gassy night put some drops in and he was perfect for the day. We tried the same thing last night and it  failed us this time.

  • It could be an early sign of reflux. The good news is you can treat this! See if it persits for the next few days. If so, call your ped and he can get you some meds if he has it.

  • Probably a growth spurt...

Have you watched "The Happiest Baby on the Block" DVD?  If not, do yourself a favor and get it (or watch it on YouTube).  Learn the 5 S's and you will be able to quiet your little guy right down, I promise.  It works for us.  My 7 weeker has had two days similar to what you've described here and it's the only way we can get her to calm down, stop crying and sleep a bit.  I suspect she's having a growth spurt this week too.

The 5's work...I promise! Hang in there!

P.S.  I also swear by ColicCalm and Miracle Blankets...these plus the 5 S's have made our LO a happy baby.

  • If you are breastfeeding, it could be something you ate that doesn't agree with ds.  If you're formula feeding, maybe it's the formula?  I was supplementing with formula for the first month and had to try 3 different brands before I finally found one that didn't hurt his tummy.

  • yes could be growth spurt too. You will know if he wants to feed more often. I mention reflux b/c it started at 3 weeks for my son and we didn't figure it out until 6.5 weeks which felt like ages. Also, if the first med doesn't work, try another. Zantac didn't work, prilosec did.

I second this. DD's 3 week growth spurt was the worst week of my life. She barely slept, wanted to eat every hour, and screamed non-stop. It was awful, but it passed after a few days. I'm already dreading the 3 week growth spurt w/ this one.
