extra amniotic fluid?

Anyone have extra amniotic fluid?  I was measuring 4 weeks ahead earlier this month, had an ultrasound and found out I have a bit of extra fluid.  We have been monitoring the fluid levels for the past two weeks and so far the doctors aren't too concerned  Just curious who is going through the same thing.

    yes i do...

They can't figure out why and told me that about 50% of the cases are for "unknown reasons".  extra fluid+big baby makes my bump HUGE lol

I was worried about it at first but now i'm just used to it i guess

p.s. google is NOT your friend in this case, you will find some scary stuff...as long as your doctor is not worried, try not to stress

  • I do.  At my growth u/s on Tuesday, my amniotic fluid was measuring 24cm.  They said that 5-25cms is normal, so I'm at the high end of normal.  I was told the biggest risk was contractions and PTL, but they weren't too concerned just yet b/c I was still in the normal range.  They just moved up my next u/s from 4 weeks to 3 weeks away.  Well, the next day I got the call that I have GD, so that is the likely culprit for me.  If your doctor isn't concerned, I wouldn't be either.  I agree w/ PP that google is not your friend in this case.  Since you are so far along, I'm sure everything will be okay!
  • I have extra fluid too but they don't seem concerned either, something like 72% and they don't worry until its 96% or higher I think they said. My concern was the cord wrapping easier and midwife said that isn't a concern there isn't that much more fluid.
