  • I used a similar wrap (an onbuhimo--very similar structure), but I found the moby is best for tiny babies.

  • with DS we used a moby for the first 2 months, after that it wasnt comfortable for me. We switched to a bjorn. This time I bought the heart to heart insert for my ergo and will try that from the beginning.

  • I didn't use it when DS was a newborn because of my c-section, but I used mei tai's (not the Babyhawk, but I'm sure it's similar) when he was pretty small.  I would totally recommend it.  I feel like I get a more supportive front carry with a mei tai vs a soft structured carrier.  You probably will have to froggy his legs in the beginning and tie the straps around his back for extra support.

  • I used my moby through about 8 months, but also used my beco butterfly when she was a nb. That's the one I still use.

  • I used a Catbird Baby mei tai, which is very similar, and I loved it.
  • do you think buying one from etsy is a bad idea?

I think it's hit or miss regarding the quality and strength of sewing.  I personally wouldn't...the retail carrier brands go through testing to ensure that their carriers can truly support the weight that they advertise.

this is what i was thinking, thanks for the input. if you nursed, did you find it easy to do in a mei tai? i just watched a youtube tutorial on it, and it doesn't look that hard, but am still curious.

DS was such a wild nurser that I never even bothered to try it.  But I've heard it's pretty simple.

  • yes actually.. i used the babyhawk from the beginning. i never actually nursed in the babyhawk though...
  • I used a Moby wrap when DS was a newborn, but switched to the BabyHawk after a few months.  I nursed him a few times in it - I just loosened the straps, scooted him down, and he nursed.  The times I did it in the BabyHawk he was so fussy and wouldn't nurse any other way, and so the BabyHawk totally saved us both from a complete breakdown :)
