Ok, my attorney called today. She has in her hand the BF's surrender. I asked how he was doing and she said he seemed ok. That was a relief because I am worried about how it will effect them as well. BM signed her surrender last night and attorney said that she seemed "great" she was studying for her collage placement test. They have decided that although they want this to remain a private or closed (still learning tech terms) they would like us to forward photos to our SW and I'm happy to do so if it means helping them to feel better knowing that LO will be taken care of.
SO I guess to sum it all up. OUR SON WILL BE HERE SATURDAY!!!!!
Re: Whew!
I'm glad everything is going well, and that both parents seem to be okay with the decision. I hope you have end up with a good relationship throughout your "semi-open adoption" (I think that's the term your looking for).
Good luck on Saturday!
I haven't heard SW call it that. They don't want us to know who they are and they don't want to know who we are but we are to send SW pics that she will keep in a file in case BM or BF want to see.
However I'm not doubting my Captain
That could be the term I am looking for. I do try to absorb all of this information because I do want to understand as much as possible about this whole process. However there is A LOT! of information.
I'm glad everything is going great for you. My husband and I were in a similar situation just a few months ago (well the BF was not part of the picture so not exactly the same situation) and I still remember how nervous I was about the BM signing the papers. I was so excited yet scared at the same time. Saturday will be such a great day for you!!!
Yes, Semi-Open Adoption. It's what we have. Each one is a little bit different but in our case we shared no last names, addresses, etc. We send monthly updates with pictures.
Our agreement is now changing slightly because of (1) comfort level and (2) Baby 2.
We also have an agreement that whenever the birthparents want to talk they just ask the agency to set up the call. We actually requested a call for this week because we wanted to hear from them.
Congrats!
Thanks ladies, you've all been so wonderful here. I know I've had a crash course in adoption over the last three weeks but coming here and hearing all of your stories have been calming. I can't wait to pick our little guy up and bring him home.
Oh picked up his "coming home from the hospital" outfit yesterday so cute. My aunt has bought all of ours and keeps them put up, she still has all of ours. Mine was the first one she bought 27 years ago. I love family traditions and can't wait to start some of our own.
