About to venture back over to the knot...

My sister is getting married and being uber-picky about her dress.

She wants something like this, except without the drop waist. Umm, needless to say, she's not going to find anything like that at David's Bridal.

I've scoured everywhere I can think of (all the designers' websites, etsy vintage, etsy handmade, etc). I'm coming up blank and thinking about seeing if there's still a dress board on the knot. God help me.

P.S. She's getting married May 1. And just starting to plan. God help all of us.

  • Hey!  I might have the solution for you.  My sister is also getting married and she discovered a new designer who does vintage dresses and doesn't make them in China, so they are available quickly.  Hang on and I'll go find the email she sent about it...

    ETA:  Found it!  https://www.dressmefancy.com/

  • Haha - good luck!

So she wants long or 3/4 sleeves?

  • Wowza, that's a short window of time!!

Good luck finding a dress like that...I haven't ever seen anything and I have no ideas.  Any seamstresses in your family?

  • Yikes!  If I didn't have my dress by now I would be beyond freaking out!

Good luck and you're so good for helping out!

  • I looked over there the other day, just to look, it's way different.  I couldn't stand the page set-up to look at any posts.
  • There's a lady who makes custom dresses in Carmel who was at the PWG show.  Her shop is in the same plaza as the fountains banquet hall.  My mom might have her card.

  • Didn't Stacy wear a cool retro-type dress?  Maybe she could help you out.

I haven't seen her around here in forever, but are you FB friends with her?

  • My only ideas are to try Etsy and hire a DOC.  Good luck!
  • Also, if she wants a real vintage dress, the best place I know is Elizabeth's Timeless Attire on Frankfort Ave in Louisville.  If you're in Indy, it's not that bad of a drive.

Elizabeth knows her vintage.  She takes yearly trips to Paris/London to stock her shop.

  • Aw, yay, Louisville!  (I'm from around there)

That store sounds like an awesome concept, I'd check it out for sure for something unique like that!

Also, you might try Etsy?  There are some very talented seamstresses there, and you could definitely try to put something cool and unique together with one of them and she could get the look she's going for, but at the same time it is kind of risky with such little time to spare.

I know one of the more popular wedding dress seamstresses on Etsy is Rohm and she's cased out of Chicago.
