Extremely raw, red newborn skin

DD #2 has developed some super raw and red (not bloody but looks like it could) skin in the fold where her legs meet her vaginal area.  It looks wet and shiny and red.  I called the pedi but I don't exactly trust the nurses sometimes.  The nurse said to apply vaseline to it.  Anyone else deal with something like this and what did you do?  I feel like the skin needs to be aired out but that is hard since it's in the fold of skin that doesn't really get any air and keeping her diaper-free would be a little difficult.

  • Charlie gets this sometimes too - his skin is just so sensitive. I use aquaphor + desitin and it seems to help.

I think these should help.  My middle daughter had this some.

Same here, except we use Boudreaux's.  Airing out really is the best thing.  Oh, and after you wipe, pull the skin back a little and let it dry out completely.  Our wipes were so moist, they left a residue that took a good 20 seconds or so to dry.  Putting the diaper on too quickly always made the skin more irritated.
