i'm so f-ing confused. we're starting to ttc in may-ish and i was toying with the idea of charting, but that *** is confusing. i think i may have to go rogue and just have lots of sex and call it a day.

Pick up Taking Charge of Your Fertility. There's nothing wrong with "going rogue" especially if you have no infertility problems, but I really recommend all women read TCOYF. It has so much useful information.
It seemed confusing to me at first too, but I got sucked in. I started out only recording AF, sex, and cramps. The next month I started recording CM. This month I'm starting to record basal body temps.
If it wasn't difficult getting pg with #1, just have some fun and see what happens.
Charting is stressful. Mind you, it's pretty awesome to know what your body is up to, but I think it takes a lot to really get the hang of it.
I am actually in sort of the opposite boat. We had TTTC with Charlie, and charting is so engrained I think it will be hard for me just to have fun the 2nd time around. I need to just not get so obsessed and charting does make you a wee bit crazy about the whole process.
I have to say that I agree that charting seemed confusing. I'm fortunate that we didn't need to chart...but if we had had to...I think I'd have pulled my hair out! Good luck TTC!

True dat. TCOYF is a great read.
I couldn't chart- I know it's helpful for many ladies, but I would be obsessing over it. What I did was keep track of my cycles (they were pretty regular) and make sure we "tried" in the middle of it.

Glad this worked for you...we "tried" in the middle of it and failed every month. I ovulate in the late teens/early 20's...lucky me huh?
It really, for me, is much more confusing without ff. Once you get into it, it is very simple. First off, buy yourself TCOYF. That will help you a lot.
I had no trouble conceiving Larsen or the baby I lost, but my cycles are not regular and it is hard for me to just have sex in the middle of my cycle. I do not ovulate in the middle of my cycle.

Charting has given me a sense of control over an uncontrollable process. This really helps me keep my sanity during the TTC journey.

I wish I could do it without charting...
I agree. DD was a surprise, so this was all new to me. I love FF now!

I bought the basal thermometer and never used it. We just dtd every other day starting around CD 10 and I used these ovulation strips https://www.amazon.com/Generic-W2-Ovulation-Test-Strips/dp/B0002YIQJG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1268925592&sr=8-2 and dtd each day we got a postive result. PG 1st cycle with this method and hoping it's as easy the second time around, Good Luck! I'm hoping to be joining the TTC group this summer!
