So we are going to do the switch at some point soon to the Britax Boulevard. Am I correct in assuming that we are no longer able to have one seat and 2 bases (one in each car)? Do we have to get 2 car seats now?
The Britax (and pretty much all convertible carseats) don't have a base that the seat fits into. You strap the entire carseat into the car. No more easy in/easy out!
And yes, you'll need two seats for two cars, unless you want to move it around from one car to the other.
Yep. Also, this meant for us that we had to buy two strollers, one for each car. With the snap and go frame, we would always forget whose car it was in so we just bought two used Maclaren's from Craigslist so each car can have it's own.
To save a bit on the second car seat, I would recommend the Evenflo Triumph, if it fits in your car (we've never had an issue, but we have an SUV and the car seat is a bit wide). It's just as highly rated safety-wise as the Britax, but MUCH cheaper. I also think that the way the straps adjust makes it easier to get LO in and out.
