Infant Gym/Music Classes

I'm looking to enroll DS in some sort of class, just to get us out of the house a bit, meet some other moms & babies, and have a little fun.

Any recommendations? Gymboree? My Gym? Kidville? The Little Gym?

They look pretty expensive, but most offer a free class. I could probably get a month's worth of classes just trying them all out.

Re: Infant Gym/Music Classes

  • we tried out a Little Gym class (yes, intro classes are free), so that might work for you. $400 for 20 sessions is a little too fat for my wallet so we didn't sign up. DD did not participate in any of the group activities anyway, she just ran around and climbed on stuff.

you should also check your local library, we have baby lapsit in Ashburn and it's for 0-18mo olds, they read out loud, play music, and there's time for free play

  • We started going to MyGym a few weeks ago and really like it. It's $70/month and includes 1 class and 1 free play class a week. It seems to be one of the cheaper ones out there. DD loves it!
  • DD has done The Little Gym since about 9 months old.  Since she is not in daycare and none of our close friends have children around her age, it was worth the expense to me to have her with other children.   Some classes she participates with all the other kids and some classes she does her own thing.

It's been fun to see how she has progressed over time :)

  • We signed up for trial sessions for both Gimboree and My Gym. On Saturday we had our Gimboree class and DS seemed to love being around other LOs, he had never been around other babies his age before and he was amazed! IMO the classes were not that great (things you could probably do at home) but the interaction with other babies and moms was worth it. We will be trying the trial session for My Gym this Thursday and see how that goes!
  • I love my My Gym. We have been going since DD was about 6 months old. I would have liked to go to the classes offered by Fairfax county but there are not many on the weekends. If you live in Fairfax county check out parktakes they offer all kindsof classes at reasonable prices.
  • we just signed DD up for baby swim classes through the county
