Emerson Hospital or MGH?

  If you haven't done so yet, take tours of both. I have friends that delivered at MGH and had no problems, but I am going to go to Emerson.

  The Birthing center is very nice, smaller but well equipped and extremely secure. Private rooms were a big selling point for me... I don't know if MGH has this or not. Ultimately, its about where you feel most comfortable.

  I don't have any knowledge about Emerson, but I delivered at MGH and was VERY happy.  It's not the fanciest L&D ward (they don't really need to draw people in because they already have such a good reputation) but the staff are really outstanding.  I was induced and had a complicated labor with my baby have heart rate decelerations and ultimately needed a forceps delivery.  All the nursing staff were fabulous as were the physicians (I am also a physician) and everyone stayed over their shift because they were so invested.  I would highly recommend MGH.

  I had a complicated elivery at Emerson and had a great experience. The staff was wonderful and the facility was gorgeous (this was the first day they opened the L&D unit)
