Pump rental? St. John's Hospital

Just curious if anyone has heard of this before? A girlfriend told me she rented her pump after her first.  That was from Mercy hospital about 10 years ago.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Also, does anyone know if St. John's does this? I'll call later today to find out, but just thought I would do a little investigating first.

 Thanks,

Kelli

Re: Pump rental? St. John's Hospital

  • I'm not sure from the hospitals, but I did rent a hospital grade Medela from Babies R Us for a few months when I was having supply issues. It was pretty reasonable, and they have different plans to choose from. Since I did pump in the hospital, they gave me all of the hoses and attachments I'd need, so all I needed to do was pay the rental fee.

  • A lot has changed in 10 years. Some of the home pumps are hospital grade or darn close.  I know this because I used both the hospital one and my Medela PISA( I work in a hospital and if I forgot my pump, I had a set up for the hospital one)  I don't really think the average user needs the hopsital grade Medela.

I looked into rentals and the cost was at least 30 a month.  Multiply that out for 12 months and you have your own brand new top of the line pump.
