Podee: help please

I just bought the podee.  I have twin boys and I thought it would be a good option to have if I ever have to feed while I am out alone.  I just put it together and I couldn't get to work.  My husband played with it and a was able to get some liquid to go through the straw, but there was so much air going through with the liquid.  Are we doing something wrong?  Any ideas? Advice?
