3rd Trimester

WHat are your heartburn remidies?

I thought I might have been one of the lucky ones who didn't get heartburn during PG....I was wrong.

I have tried tums other antacids but nothing does the trick.  I have also tried drinking milk and not eating a lot of carbs/ sugary things, but still my throat/ chest are buring.

Any suggestions?  I am desperate!

  • For some reason a bag of microwave butter popcorn always helps mine! GL!!

  • I use Zantac 150 at night and tums, but honestly, nothing really works that well for me either :(

When I was in the hospital for PTL, they kept talking about something called Bicitra that is supposed to be really bitter but works better than anything else, and instantly, but I was too chicken to take it since my stomach was already upset from all the meds and I was afraid the taste would make me throw up.  But, I just looked it up and it's prescription.  GL!

  • Zantac two times a day and no red sauce or fried foods. Also, staying vertical for at least 1 hour after eating. I've also tried Mylanta when I do get heartburn and it helps more than Tums. Good luck!
  • I would also like to hear some sugegstions, nothing seems to be helping and by the time dinner rolls around I have a hard time eating because it is so bad. I have also tried Tums, milk, and I think it is Prevacid.

  • Zantac twice a day.

  • I ingest copious amounts of TUMS and pray that it works. Most of the times it doesn't, sorry.
  • aloe vera juice
  • I know you said you tried Tums, but in my experience the regular flavored tums don't work for me..I need the Tums Smoothies (they work fantastic!)

If i'm out though, I noticed yoghurt always helps!

  • GNC has a heartburn tea especially for pregnant women.  It works for me.
  • chocolate pudding helps me. I also started sleeping with two pillows so my head is always elevated while I sleep and that prevents me from getting it so bad at night to wake me up and make me nauseous

  • I take prevacid when I start to feel the slightest bit of heartburn, and I take it with a snack. It says to take it with food and within a half hour I am usually heart burn free.
  • orange soda helped for a while but then that stopped and my dr. recommended Prilosec and it has changed my life!! I want to find the person who invented it and kiss them!!!

  • Zantac.  I didn't want to take meds but I can tell you it's been a lifesaver!

  • Cold Milk, small meals and Maalox worked for me, but I was told by my midwife that you can try eating frozen strawberries - I never tried it. Other than that, I hear Zantac is a miracle cure :o)
