i have yet to jump on the "omg bluebonnets!!" train, but i am this year.

so 1. where is the best place on this side of the metroplex? (frisco, mck, allen, plano - esque. im not driving to fw).

and 2. when are they fully in bloom?

They usually show up end of March, beginning of April. And someone on here (Seths?) clued me in to an AWESOME place in Grapevine last year. Fields of them, and NOT on the highway. Very safe.

I agree! Grapevine is pretty far for us to but I would much rather go to somewhere not right off the highway.

Its on 114/121 South ... you exit Main and its right there off the service road, just past all the dealerships.

ETA - when they're in bloom, you can't miss it. There'll be 25 other people there with their kids taking photos

I can't wait for bluebonnets! I actually saw some in San Antonio today on our way to sea world. Also totty where in grapevine?

There is also a nice field of them in Solana (between Southlake and Roanoke) off of 114.

Obviously this wouldn't be a good place for you Punk, but anybody else reading might want to hit Solana.

when roads are named with numbers - i automatically get confused 114, 35, 361, etc...thats why i don't go over there. i am horrible with directions.

i like "tollway", "george bush", "central", and my exception of "121" LOL

A little note about mustangs rec in Solana, I work right in that area and have seen in the past couple of years they rope off the side of the road and put signs up to stay off the bluebonnets. Im not sure if that is the same area you are talking about or not but it is right off of 114 and Solana. I will post back and let yall know if the signs are out again this year once the bluebonnets are there. I personally think it is a bit crazy that they dont want people taking pics in their bluebonnets but oh well.

I cant wait to take DS pic in them. I have my pics when i was a kid so I am super excited about it.
