Am I crazy?
I posted yesterday about my Grandpa passing away. The funeral is Friday, 3 hours away from home/hospital, and I will be exactly 39 weeks pregnant. I would need to head up there tomorrow night to make it Friday morning. I talked to my midwife today, and she said of course technically and medically the answer is no, don't go, but she also said she would go if it were her. LO's head is low, and my cervix is thin, but I'm not even 1/2 cm dilated and I haven't had any contractions that I'm aware of. I know labor can start suddenly and without warning, so I'm nervous, but I've also felt that I'd go late throughout this entire pregnancy...so instinct is on my side.
Would you go?
Re: Travel @ 39 weeks
If I were in your shoes, I would probably go. As pps said, you'd have enough time to get to your hospital if labor were to start. Besides, there's always 9-1-1.
If it's something you will regret missing (which is what it sounds like), I'd take the risk and go.
If you were close to your Grandpa and had someone that was going with you (and could drive if you went into labor), I would go. Even if you went in to labor, you would probably have enough time to get back to the hospital. Just play it safe, be aware of what your body is telling you and start heading home if you have any concerns.
